Being a hunter requires you to move around quite a lot, for numerous reasons. One is that you have to keep a low profile and two being that you have to be where the mass of whatever you are hunting is at.
Of course, it's not exactly easy hunting monsters of the night on your own, so it's extremely handy having your best friend around to help with the strategising. Even better is having your best friend live with you. Sadly my best friend is a preppy teenage girl who literally scanned all the schools in a 20-mile radius for good-looking people. And then she went and presented the results to my dad (she hid the good-looking students part and showed him how the schools are graded instead).
My dad went along with her, to keep her happy and because he truly didn't care about what school I go to as long as I got my duty's done.
June (said preppy teenage girl) picked some suspicious school called Neusmalt Park School. If that doesn't sound like problems to you I do not know what does.
I finished packing my bag and getting dressed quickly, leaving behind the comfort of my bed, my fluffy pillow calling out to me.
I knocked on the bathroom door and in a few seconds, June opened the door, with one of her eyes done and the other naked of any makeup. She smiled and asked "Any particular reason I'm being bothered or can I finish my makeup?"
"Just hurry up alright? I don't want to be late on our first day." I closed the door again and heard a sigh coming from inside the bathroom.
My dad was downstairs, reading something on his laptop and scribbling down notes on an old looking notepad. There were already two different cups of coffee on the table and I don't think he's planning on sharing any.
"Morning dad. You're up early." I kissed his cheek and directed myself into the kitchen, making some toast and a cup of tea.
"Just wanted to get all the paperwork work on hand. There're a couple of reports in the nearby area that should be addressed soon. I'll start building up profiles so you can have a look when you get home from school today." H took off his glasses and drank from one of the cups.
"Don't stress out. You have the whole day and we can just get June to do all the computer stuff." I called from the kitchen, buttering my toast. I quickly made some cereals for June, knowing she was bound to come in a bit late and she needed something easier to eat.
"I know I just... I like to have everything organized." He went back to his computer, noting down names and places in a messy handwriting. I squeezed his shoulder and sat down on the other end of the table, eating my food while checking my phone. I plugged in my headphones and let the music submerge me (or half of me anyway).
A subtle tap on my shoulder brought me back to reality and June looked ready to go, her backpack on and her laptop bag on her side. We both quickly said goodbye to my dad and exited the house, mentally preparing ourselves for the day ahead.
