"This is a horrid plan." Alaister mutters under his breath while we start to exit the dinner through the back door. My and Alaister stood at the front, leading the rest of the hunters. Coden and Ellie were in the middle, some of the other hunters trying to teach them whatever they could in the small few moments we had.
"Just trust her alright?" I mutter back looking around for any surprising vampires. The back alley was empty, littered with only trash bags and a few animals running around the floors.
"It really does sound like a bad plan." I hear Coden pop up from behind us. He had this smile on his face like he's been told Santa's real and he's bringing him presents. That satisfying little gleam in his eyes.
"What do you know about vampires and strategies?" I raise my eyebrow and shove him slightly back, noises from lusting vampires coming closer.
"Not much, the most I know is from video games but I'm ready to kick some ass!" He begins to raise his voice and hit him in the arm, shushing him after and making a 'dude, what the hell?' face.
"I'm just trying to fit in, and not seem terrified." He admits, falling back to where he was before and I let out a sigh. Problematic child.
"Are you sure this is going to work?" Alaister asks again, as we start to see the backs of the hoard of vampires that had mounted outside. I wondered why they were waiting, why they hadn't stricken yet but I realised they were waiting. They were waiting for the people inside to come out and fight them. Everyone inside was either very old or very young, as today was not a training day and it was rather dark. They were going to eliminate the weak first, but at their own time in their own sadistic way. Some people speculate blood tastes better when filled with dear, I just say they're all sadistic little fucks.
"When has June failed us Alaister?" I ask, swinging my blades between my fingers.
"There was that one time in Atlanta." He points out.
"We were 12 are you ever going to let that go?" I smirk at him.
Alaister, June and I go way back. We've been training together since we were young, we're the best of friends, except Alaister's family hunts Werewolves more than vampires so we barely see each other, sadly. Thankfully, almost like the Gods made this on purpose, he was visiting at the time of the attack.
"Nope." He smiles and then launches at one of the vampires, using his small, blessed scythe to slice his head clean off, the body fading into ash quickly, giving space for him to go do the same to the vampire that was standing next to him.
Soon I followed, running into were two vampires stood, licking their lips looking inside the old building. Before they knew it, I crouched slightly and spun, cutting both their necks. Due to my blessed knives both of them crumbled into ashes under my feet and I panted, looking to the side to see another vampire come towards me. I take out my wood stake and run towards him, plunging it into his heart before he is able to get his fangs into my neck.
