Chapter Six
The tile floor was cold under my feet. I tried to walk as quietly as I could through the living room to the bathroom without waking Drake who was asleep on the couch. I turned on the shower and snuck back to my room. I opened my closet and grabbed my floral print bra top, grey cardigan and denim high-waisted shorts. I set them on the bathroom counter and stepped in the cool shower. I prefered taking a cool shower in the summer time rather than a hot one.
After I was dressed and did my hair and make up I walked back to the kitchen to have some breakfast. I plugged in the toaster, noticing a pink sticky note stuck on the refrigerator.
‘Will be at the bakery, you and Drake can drive my car, I walked and won’t be back until 4 in the afternoon! :) ~Grandma’
I sighed. I was alone with Drake. Again. There was a loud knock on the door making me drop my knife on the floor. Drake was still asleep, so I opened the door.
I glanced at the clock behind me. It was 8:00. “Can I help you?” I asked the boy. He was leaning against the doorway in a striped grey and black tee. He looked me up and down.
“Who are you?” I asked disgusted.
He smirked at me and walked closer to me. I stumbled backwards about to fall when someone came up and grabbed the back of my arm preventing me from falling.
“What do you want Jesse?” Drake hissed, his grip on my arm getting tighter as the boy walked more into the apartment. I had never seen him angry before.
He licked his lips and smirked.
“Get out,” Drake said between clenched teeth.
Jesse smirked, “Just remember Drake...” He grinned and left. Drake let go of my arm that had started to go numb. He slammed the apartment door shut and looked at me. His emerald eyes made me melt. His eyes moved down to my red arm and looked away.
“What was that all about?” I asked rubbing my arm. He didn’t respond and just walked to the bathroom and locked the door.
