Emilia's POV:
All I could feel was sheer panic on the way to the hospital. What if the baby isn't okay? What if Ashley dies while giving labor? I think Noah can tell how nervous I am because he intertwines our fingers together and kisses my hand. "Babe, your sister will be fine, the baby will be fine, and by the end of the night your niece or nephew will be born, okay?" He says."Okay, I guess you're right. I just worry you know? I don't know why she wanted to keep the gender a surprise, the suspense is killing me," I add.
"So I'm assuming when we have children you will want to know the gender," Noah says chuckling.
Thinking about mini Noahs and mini Emilias running around brings butterflies to my stomach. Noah will be such a great father someday. Don't get me wrong I love kids, but I'm still a kid myself and I don't want to raise a baby yet.
"So is that your way of saying you want children Noah," I say smirking. Noah blushes bright red, and must I say it was the cutest thing I have ever seen. Noah has been driving the fastest legally allowed to the hospital, and we finally pull into the patient parking before I die of anxiety. Noah and I walk up to a nurse manning the front counter and by the look of her name tag her name is Janet. She has a petite figure and she is wearing floral scrubs; her hair is styled in a blonde bob.
"Can you tell me where Ashley Michaels' room is, she's my sister," I say.
Janet smiles at me with her pearly white teeth.
"Your sister is in room 109 sweetie, but I'm afraid your boyfriend can't come in, family only," she says apologetically.
"I'll be waiting out here for you babe, tell your sister congratulations," Noah says with understanding.
I am really sad that I have to leave Noah behind, but I guess I will have to face this alone. I walk down the long corridor where you can just smell the antiseptic. When I get to my sister's room she is having a contraction and my mom is trying to calm her down.
"Breathe in, breathe out," my mom repeats.
It takes awhile for them to notice my presence, but after they do my sister's face is flooded with relief.
"Thank you so much for coming Emilia, I need all the support I can get," Ashley says with an appreciative smile.
"No problem, Ash," I say grabbing her hand.
Not too long after I get there her OBGYN Doctor Hill comes in to check how many centimeters dilated she is. Dr. Hill is a middle aged man with salt and pepper hair and a mustache. We wait for him to finish examining her when he let's out a sigh.
"Well Ashley, it looks like you're ready to have this baby," he says smiling at her. My sister looks like she is about to faint, but I squeeze her hand to reassure her.
"You're gonna do great Ash," I say. She looks at me with tears in her eyes, "Emilia, will you come into the delivery room?" She asks me.
"Why I thought I would just stay in the waiting room?" I ask shocked.
"I just really need my sister tonight," she says.
"Okay, let's welcome my little niece or nephew," I say with tears in my eyes.
Two male nurses come in to help wheel Ashley to the delivery room, so my mom and I follow as they prepare Ashley to start pushing. Dr.Hill comes in and gets his gloves on. He tells us to hold back my sisters legs and then that's when my sister is ready to start pushing.
"Okay Ashley, I need you to keep pushing until I tell you to stop, okay?" He instructs. My sister nods and he tells her to push. After the third round of pushing, my mom and I can see the head. After two more pushes the baby is almost all of the way out, one more push and then the baby is out and let's out a single cry.
"Congratulations, it's a boy," Dr.Hill tells us. I can't believe I have a nephew!
"Would you like to cut the umbilical cord Emilia," my sister asks. I nod and Dr. Hill instructs me on how to do so. They start cleaning off the baby and weighing him when my sister gets this weird look on her face. "Dr. Hill, I am still having contractions, is that normal?" My sister asks.
Dr.Hill gets a worried look on his face and starts to examine my sister again. "Well Ashley, this doesn't happen often, but sometimes both babies aren't shown on the ultrasound, you're having twins," he says.
My sister looks panicked, "Mom, how am I going to raise two children by myself?" She asks near tears.
"Honey, you can do this, I have faith in you and we will help you, won't we Emilia," she says reassuringly and I nod along.
"Now let's have you start pushing okay," my mom says. My sister nods and Dr.Hill tells her it's okay to push. This baby is born much faster, and this time Dr Hill says,"It's a girl."
We all look at each other with smiles on our faces. They clean the babies off, the boy weighs in at 7lbs 8oz, and the girl weighs in at 7lbs and 4oz. Both babies are 21 inches long and they are both so beautiful. The nurses put my niece and nephew in my sister's arms and she looks down at them so lovingly.
I tell my sister that I will be right back and I go to check on Noah. He's looking anxious in a waiting room chair and he hears me approaching so he looks up at me expectantly.
"How is your sister and her baby?" He asks with a smile.
I smile back and say,"Ash and the babies are doing great, the doctor says they are perfectly healthy."
He has a shocked expression on his face, "You mean she had twins," he asks incredulously. I just smile and nod.
"Yep, one boy and one girl,"I say. Noah brings me in for a big bearhug, and since my sister has been moved to a regular room, she is allowed to have people who aren't family in there with her. Noah and I walk in and my sister and my mom smile at us while looking down at our intertwined hands.
"It's about time," they say in unison smiling at us. They didn't know Noah and I were together, so they were both relieved. I look at my sister with the babies in her arms, fast asleep.
"So, do you know what you're going to name them?" I ask. She smiles at me and says, "I was thinking Dakota Matthew Michaels for my baby boy, and for my baby girl, I was thinking Isabelle Grace Michaels," she says with a smile on her face.
My mom, Noah, and I all look at her with smiles on our faces and agree that the names are beautiful. Looking at my sister and how happy she is, I know that in the future Noah and I will have a beautiful family. I can't wait to raise a family with Noah, and I can't wait to see what an amazing father he will be.Thanks for reading this chapter of TBND! Please vote and comment, also thank you to everyone who gave me name suggestione, but a special thanks to @TeeTeeAngel @NattyGraves and @jindry who inspired the name choices for the twins!
