"Was the meeting with the General a success John?" I questioned him eager to know as he walked in the shop.
"Hold on one moment, give me a second to collect myself." He said laughing as he held the door open for Kassiana.
Kassiana took my hands in hers.
"Oh darling, it was absolutely splendid." Kassiana sang, "He ordered some of the finest food, our taste buds couldn't even comprehend." She squeezed my hands.
We walked joyfully back to our small abode behind the shop.
"He was quite agreeable too Raelyn, very well mannered. Surely when you meet he will catch your eye." She said nodding and going to the kitchen to prepare me something to eat.
"Kassiana, what do you mean when we meet? I don't want to be bothered with the ideas of marriage." I remarked.
"Oh pipe down Raelyn, I am not going to force you into marrying him. I only want the idea of marrying into a wealthy family to linger in your head." she replied smiling sweetly at me.
I looked over at John who was quietly keeping his mouth shut. As if he was afraid of his wife's quick remarks.
I was about to exit the room, but the older man from earlier came to mind.
"John." I called.
"Yes?" he responded.
"A man came by today-" I started.
"Is that so" he interjected.
I groaned, receiving a look from John.
"He asked about a sword delivery. He wasn't very kind either." I slumped my shoulders and crossed my arms.
His eyes widened a little bit, and he scratched his head in thought.
"What did you tell him?" He questioned me almost accusingly.
"I told him nothing of course, he didn't believe me however, and left threatening to return soon." I told him.
"Is that all that happened?" He asked me concern on his face.
I hesitated, was a arm grab really worth the trouble.
"That was all John." I said hanging my head.
"Well if what you are saying is true-"
"Of course it's true!" I interrupted.
He sent me a dirty look before continuing.
"If what you say is true then we shall not bring it up anymore, if he comes back do not breath a word of the sword delivery to him or anyone else who may come into our store." He commanded.
"Of course." I mumbled.
After eating dinner alone I returned to my room.
I quickly dressed in my nightgown and put my hair into a simple braid.
How could he believe that I would actually say anything, I am not a child with no common sense. I thought to myself.
"Well no use keeping myself up worrying about it." I muttered to myself.
I collapsed on my bed and hugged myself as I closed my eyes and drifted off into a calming sleep.
"Raelyn! Raelyn! Ooh, get up you lazy pig." Kassiana shouted in my ear.
"What is it! Why it's even earlier than yesterday." I snapped at her.
She rolled her eyes and continued with her excitement.
