"Try me." I taunted him, glaring at him with all I could.
The cold water had drenched my nightgown, and now the cold material was sticking to my skin. I couldn't help but let out a shiver as I focused my attention on getting warm.
"I am General of the King's Guard. Yet you, a simpleton dare to treat me with such disrespect." He spat at me.
I kept silent, only keeping my eyes on him.
"Nothing to say now? You had a mouthful earlier." He snickered.
When he noticed I wasn't going to say anything he cleared his throat and continued.
"I need to know who that man was, if he is who I think he is, then he wants to prevent the King's Guard from getting brand new weapons. And I cannot allow that." He said irritated.
I shook my head.
"I do not know who the man was! Have I not told you this already? Why does the Guard need new weapons anyhow, we are not at war." I countered.
"It is of none of your concern whether the guard needs weapons. The only thing you are important for right now is telling me where that man went, and who he was." His finger began to itch towards his blade.
I let out a groan of frustration.
"Are you so thick headed that you cannot hear what I am saying, you buffoon. I have told you multiple times I do not know who the man was, and since I do not know who the man was, I do not know where he is. Do you understand me now? Or shall I repeat myself again." I scoffed.
In a quick moment my head was pulled back against the chair, a sharp knife inches away from my neck.
"Insult me one more time, and I will be quick to deliver your punishment." He said sternly, releasing me ever so slowly.
I took a nervous gulp and looked down.
"I am not lying." I mumbled.
I heard Christian sheath his sword, and I let out a breath.
"Well, until you can come up with some answers I don't see any reason to let you go." He replied quickly.
"I will set some of my guards to watch you, outside in the stables." He let out a sinister laugh as he ordered the guards to take me away.
The guards dragged me outside to an empty stable and threw me on the floor.
I glared at the guards as they shut the door leaving me alone, with only a small torch to light up the stable.
I sat in silence, hugging myself trying to fall asleep.
"What I would give for a warm bath." I muttered to myself.
"Well we'd have to get you out of here first wouldn't we?" I heard a voice question me.
I turned my head to see a small window and a head peaking through.
"Who are you?" I asked curiously.
"I'm here to rescue you m'lady." The man said.
I snorted. " Rescue me? Yes, what a day it would be to be rescued by a mysterious man with a black cloth covering his face. Thanks, but no thank you. I have had quite enough run-ins with strangers."
I could see a small smirk appear through his 'mask'.
"Well well, you are no damsel in distress I suppose. Quite a fierce young lady." He snickered.
I rolled my eyes but couldn't hide the small smile from his ridiculous comment.
"Good, if you've realized that then I suppose you should run off and save some other damsel." I said a little louder than meant.
I breathed in sharply when I heard the stable door open.
"Who are you talking to wench?" The guard said sternly.
"No one, just thinking out loud." I responded quietly.
I stood up and backed towards the wall as the guard entered the stable.
The guards hand came down across my face knocking me over into the wall. I whimpered slightly but quickly regained my footing.
As I stood back up I felt a slight movement in my boot.
My dagger. I thought wide eyed.
I quickly fiddled with my shoe and pulled out the dagger.
I must have looked absolutely abnormal. My matted damp hair hanging in strings across my head, my nightgown dirty and wet, but here I was pointing a dagger at a guard who had a much higher chance of winning.
The guard let out a laugh.
"I wouldn't mind tussling with the wench who bit my hand." The guard teased.
My eyes opened wide, this guard was already infuriated with me, of course he would be the one to watch me.
The guard came after me and I moved quickly to the right avoiding his attack. I sliced blindly as I turned, and I heard a grunt in response as I felt the blade cut through his skin.
The guard regained his posture, his eyes gleaming with fury.
"You will pay for that." He snapped.
I squealed as he took a hold of my arm and bent it backwards. I swung around and punched him in the face with all my strength; it was enough for him to loosen his grip on my arm.
I tugged on my arm and raced towards the outside, pushing past the stable door.
Before I could make it much farther I let out a sharp cry as a sting went through my shoulder. I reached my hand onto my shoulder feeling for the injury; a large bow had made its way into my skin.
I applied pressure onto my shoulder to stop the blood from seeping out, but it had slowed me down allowing the guard to catch up to me.
The guard pushed me down, and I crawled away. Pleading with my body, begging for it to move; but the more I tried the more pain I felt go through my disabled arm.
The guard sliced down onto my arm and I felt a burning sensation as it cut through my skin. My eyes began to water as the blood dripped down my ripped nightgown.
"You're dead." He yelled out me.
Before I could even think to do anything about it, the guard let out a blood curdling yell as a knife shot through his heart.
I pushed my hardest off the ground and stood up wobbling back and forth. I backed away from the guard wide eyed, and terrified.
I saw a man stand out from behind the guard and the guard fell over. I covered my free hand over my mouth.
"We talked earlier madam." The man said worriedly.
I wobbled and went to fall, but instead the masked man caught me.
"You are terribly wounded. I will try my best to patch you up, just trust me." The man whispered in my ear.
I nodded slightly and my head lulled against his chest as he carried me off.
