Chapter 14

I am sure you all enjoy reading Authors Note but here we go, I would like to thank all my readers so far and I cannot wait to continue this journey with you guys.    My eyes swallowed the image that was laid out before me. Elron's slightly irritated expression, the dark circles around his eyes and his slightly paled skin. 

My eyes then trailed to his arm where I grew slightly annoyed;  Valeria's arms were circled around his, pressing his arm flush against her body.  

I watched as Valeria giggled at Stevian's attempt to explain what was going on. I stood in the shadow of the room, remaining as silent as I could.

"Elron and I are very busy people Stevian, we don't have all day." Valeria said in a sickly sweet voice.

I remained staring at my feet, I was slightly angry that Elron wasn't doing anything about how close he was to Valeria but I was gone for weeks, perhaps...

I moved my eyes up to look at Elron once more, only to find his piercing green eyes staring into mine. My breathing hitched as his eyes widened in realization.

"Raelyn.." He breathed out.

Suddenly all the eyes in the room were on me, even though I felt Valeria's rage filled stare towards me, I couldn't move my eyes away from Elron's sad eyes.

"Raelyn... you are, you returned?" Elron said questioningly, a longing look in his eyes.

"I am alright, I told you in my letter I would return as soon as I could.. I asked you to wait for me."

I caught a confused look on Elron's face before Valeria whispered something into his ear. Suddenly Elron's face contorted with anger.

"You harlot*, don't think I've forgotten what you've done!" Elron spat at me.

"What are you talking about?" I was taken back, how dare he call me that.

"Don't play the fool, I read the letter you speak of! I remember reading it clearly, I especially enjoyed the part where you explained how I was not 'exciting' enough for you."

I watched as a smiled widened on Valeria's spite filled face.

"I didn't write that..." I sighed, " I must have been framed, please believe I am telling the truth."

"You are so paranoid Raelyn, take responsibilities for your own faults." 

I visibly began shaking with rage, " You want me to take responsibility for my actions! How about this, when I return home to check on my dear family I find that they think I am dead! All because you lied, you promised you would send the letters for me. You tell me to take responsibility for my actions but you don't!"

Elron eyes dropped and he went to reply but I stopped him..

"Not only that, but I was eager everyday to see you. I wanted to see you so badly that it hurt." I paused taking in a breath.

"I longed for you Elron, I longed to see your face. Yet here I find you." I said just above a whisper, my anger leaving me for sadness.

Elron's eyes flashed with sadness and regret as he looked at the arm pressed against Valeria.

"You didn't leave because of me?" He asked, his voice wavering.

I shook my head silently. I held my hands together tightly to try and stop my eyes from watering.
"I didn't then, but I think I should now."

Elron called out to me as I turned and left the building. The once crowded streets were now empty as the sun set. 

I wandered through the streets till I was met with a path outside. I followed the path until it led me to a small opening with a large pond that reflected the stars and moon in the sky.

I looked up and took in a deep breath of the fresh air.

After standing there for quite some time I heard footsteps behind me approaching slowly, cautiously. 

I turned my head and my eyes were met with Elron's. I quickly turned back ahead and ignored his presence.

" I am sorry Raelyn.." Elron whispered, " I am so sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you. When I heard you left I was devastated, and then Valeria brought me a letter. God, I should've known better Raelyn. I really should have." Elron said reaching out to grab my hand.

He let out a sigh when I slightly pulled my hand back. "I-I wanted to see you everyday I was gone Elron, I only left because Christian told me Kassiana and John were killed." I closed my eyes tightly and held my breath.

Turning towards Elron's frowning face I grasped his hand in mine. "I am a little upset, but that doesn't overpower how happy I am to see you."

His frown wasn't so deep anymore, and his eyes brightened slightly.

Elron leaned down and kissed the top of my head and embraced me in a hug. I held him tightly in return.

He pulled apart a little and captured my lips with his. The kiss was slightly rougher than usual, but it was filled with so much emotion. 

He pulled me closer to him and I wrapped my arms around his neck. 

After what felt like forever, we pulled away breathlessly looking at each other. 

The moment must have gotten to me because I pecked him on the lips and murmured,

"I love you." 

That seemed to catch him off guard and he froze for a couple seconds, he was no longer smiling at me, his lips curved into a straight line and he stood there looking, not at me, but through me.

"Elron, I am sorry.. It was too soon I was just in the moment. I am sorry." I stuttered.

What I said seemed to regain his attention, "Don't apologize, I am happy you feel that way." He said kissing me on the lips once more. His smile seemed strained now, and he looked like something hurt him deeply.

I won't admit it out loud, but even on the walk back I had hoped he would tell me he loved me. 

Only he didn't. I won't deny that it hurt, cause it did a lot. I wanted the first time I said I love you to be perfect. But it felt as if I ruined it. 

I tossed and turned in my bed, I felt angry at myself for messing that up;however, I didn't just feel pain from that, but the look in his eyes and the way he looked through me. I was eager to find out what happened, I just had to be patient.
