Chapter 9
The next day...
Riker POV
I sat down on Kayla's side of the table for lunch again.
"So thanks for the note last night," I said, smiling.
Kayla smiled back.
"Seriously though. Thanks."
I gave Kayla a side hug.
"But if they come in here, I don't know what I'm going to do..."
Sure enough, they did come in. And my heart started racing.
"Kayla, I-I need to do s-something!"
Kayla grabbed her stuff and my hand. She pulled me up, and led me past those guys, out of the cafeteria. They sent me glares as we passed. Kayla didn't seem all too phased by it. But I definitely was.
She brought me to the library. We sat down in the back. My heart was racing, and my hands were shaking.
"Thanks for that... I'm pretty sure you just saved me..."
Kayla hugged me.
We ended up staying in there until next period.
Later...
Riker POV
Kayla brought me to her house after class. I was nervous to be honest.
Her mom was in the kitchen when we got there. Apparently she knew sign language too. Kayla and her had a conversation I didn't understand for a few minutes.
Kayla grabbed my hand, and pulled me upstairs to her bedroom.
"So um... It's ok for me to be here?" I asked.
Kayla nodded, and wrote something down.
"Dinner? Do you want me to stay?" I asked.
She nodded.
"Ok, then I will..."
I looked around her room. It was aqua, had a bed, desk, dresser, and closet. It was kind of small, like my room.
"So what should we do tonight? It's Friday..." I said, sitting on her bed.
Kayla shrugged.
"Well... We could do like maybe a movie night?"
Kayla nodded.
"Ok, so maybe after dinner, we can make some popcorn and stuff."
Kayla wrote something.
"Oh... Yeah, we can do it at my house."
She had said she didn't have popcorn and her TV wasn't set up yet, so she suggested we do it at mine.
"What do you want to do until dinner?"
Kayla went in her closet, and handed me a game.
"You have a truth or dare game? I didn't even know this was like a thing!"
We sat on the floor. There were 2 piles of cards and a spinner. You spun it to either get truth, dare, or skip a turn.
Kayla went first. She got dare, and had to do a handstand for as long as she could, which was a good 20 or 30 seconds.
Later...
Riker POV
Kayla's mom called us for dinner, but I had to take another turn so we'd be even. I spun the spinner, and got dare. I picked up a dare card.
"Alright. It says... Kiss the person to your left...? Um..."
My mind was racing, just like my heart.
What am I supposed to do!?
"Um... Should I do it, or not?" I asked, my face turning red.
Kayla stood up, took my hand, and brought me to the door. She shut off the light so it was kind of dim.
Our eyes locked, and I just went for it. My lips slowly connected with hers, and after about 3 seconds, we pulled apart.
I just had my first kiss...
