Chapter 13

Riker POV

"Kayla, I um... I like you..."

"I like you too, Riker," Kayla whispered.

Did she really just talk!?

I smiled widely, and laughed a little.

"You talked," I said, softly.

Kayla smiled, and cuddled into my side. I held her closely to me, and sighed happily.

Kayla texted me. She said she should be getting home because it was getting late.

"Yeah, ok... One question first though... What are we exactly?"

She texted me again.

"Whatever you want us to be, Riker."

Kayla hugged me, and then stood up, sliding on her shoes.

"I'll walk you home."

I walked her back to her house, and hugged her before she went inside.

"See you tomorrow?"

Kayla nodded, kissed me quickly on the cheek, and then ran inside.

I had a ton of butterflies in my stomach. Did all that stuff really just happen? She actually talked... I can't believe it...

I ran back home, and cleaned up the living room. I went back upstairs, and got in bed. I fell asleep, slightly in pain, but I felt amazing because I knew she liked me back.

Just one question... What did I want us to be?

The answer was obvious.

Morning...

Riker POV

I texted Kayla to come over for breakfast. I waited by the door. As soon as I let her in, I had my arms around her.

"I want us to be a couple," I whispered, hugging her tight.

She nodded and smiled.

"Awesome. Let's go have some breakfast!"

I led us into the kitchen.

"So back when we played that truth or dare game, I answered a truth about how I can't exactly cook anything. So I figured I'd try making pancakes today, and you can judge," I said.

Kayla smiled, and sat down at the kitchen counter.

"Awesome. Ok, so I'm just making regular pancakes. Nothing fancy..."

I poured some of the mix into a bowl. I added eggs, water, milk, oil, and then mixed it all together.

"Alright. Now the hard part. This is always the step I get wrong with anything. I've almost burnt the house down twice..."

I got out a pan, and put some butter in it. I let it melt, and then attempted to make my pancakes.

I poured some of the batter in, but then I realized that I had no idea when to flip it. It became a guessing game for each one.

Finally, I was done. I hadn't burnt too many.

I brought a giant plate of pancakes over to the counter, and got us each a plate. I gave Kayla the best looking ones, and I ate the burnt ones.

"So um... How are they?" I asked, nervously.

Kayla gave me a thumbs up.

"Awesome!"
