“G-Guys…” I said, or think I said. I can’t hear myself or really anything right now. I didn’t think they heard me but then I faintly heard someone say “Delilah?” I’m guessing they heard. It sounded like Louis. Oh I thank the Lord, he’s here. He can help. He was also the one I think I was holding on to. “D-Daddy, all I hear is r-ringing and see bright dots. W-Why can’t I hear?” I said. Ow. That hurt my throat. This is the most I’ve talked in about five years. I hope they heard that. I hope they can help.

(Louis’s P.O.V.)

We just signed our names in what’s called the Name Room. That was fascinating, all of those kids stories. How they got adopted and how grateful they are. I was holding onto Delilah’s hand as we were walking down the halls and into the lobby. I had my free hand holding onto the strap of her backpack, which was hanging on my shoulder. When we got in the lobby and I saw the flashing lights outside the doors and stopped. Crap, paparazzi and fans.

I don’t think Delilah noticed but all of the rest of the lads did. I could see it on their faces. We all stopped walking around the same time and Delilah looked at me confused. “Love, we’re going to need you to put your hood up, okay? And keep your head down. Don’t look up until we get in the car, alright?” I asked. She still looked confused but did as she was told. Then she looked to the door.

Her eyes widen and she looked so scared. She looked to me with horror in her eyes. I squatted down to eye level with her because she was pretty small to be 13. “Delilah, it’s going to be okay. We’re not going to let anyone hurt you. You’re going to be safe with us. Just stay close to Niall and I and hold our hands.”  She nodded and held up her book. “Liam can hold onto it and nothing will happen to it. He’ll keep it safe. I promise.” I said. She sighed and turned to Liam, who was smiling at her with his hand extended, and got the book from her. I wonder what it all says…

I stood up, Harry and Zayn got in front of us shielding Delilah, and Liam was behind. “Here we go.” Niall said and we started walking. Harry and Zayn pushed open the doors and the lights from the cameras caught me off guard for a second. My eyes quickly got use to the light and by the screaming. We’ve been through this for a while now and we’re all use to it. But the thing I’m worried about is Delilah. She’s not used to this.

She tightened her grip on my hand and I looked down at her. I could barely see her face but I could tell she had her eyes closed. She was scared, my baby was scared. We pushed through the crowd with the help of out bodyguards. We finally got back to the van that had tinted windows so you couldn’t see into them. [AN: Don’t expect me to know cars]

I opened the door for Delilah and she hopped in. She scooted to the other side of the van and pulled her knees up to her body. I got in and saw that she was covering her ears, the poor thing. I pulled her close to me and hugged her. She gripped onto my shirt like if she was to let go, I would fade. I rubbed her back as the car started moving. I looked around and all of the boys were in the car looking at Delilah.

“How’s Delilah?” Asked Liam. “Yeah. She wouldn’t be use to it.” Niall said. “Is she okay? The fans can be crazy.” Harry said. “I don’t think so. Paparazzi were everywhere, lights were really bad and bright, the fans were screaming really loud.” I said. “She’s scared out of her wits.” Then she started shaking and crying really hard. “Delilah, what’s wrong?” I asked while looking down. I don’t think she could hear me. “Delilah?” I asked a little louder. She still seemed to not be able to hear me. How could she not? I’m right next to her.

“Lads, she’s not responding. I’m right next to her. It’s like she can’t even hear me. What’s wrong?” I panicked. “I don’t know.” Said Zayn. “Delilah, hunny? Are you okay?” Harry asked. “Baby girl, are you hurt?” I asked her. I know it’s only been about an hour but I already feel a connection with her. And I’m basically her dad now.
