Chapter 19: You have to let her go.

Chapter 19 (Katie POV):

"You know how I took that work phone call the other day? Well, I am so excited for this new opportunity that's coming up. My boss at the internship is so impressed by my work, he has chosen me along with 4 other coworkers to go on a business project for 6 months where we will be traveling, taking meetings, doing sales pitches, and so much other stuff! Isn't that awesome?" I say trying to make Joey as excited as I am. It sucks that I have to go because we've just become close again, but it's what I need to do for my career."

"Oh. Oh my god. That's uh.. amazing! Where are you traveling to?" Joey says excitedly and pulls me into a hug.

Phew. Joey's excited for me! I don't know why I thought he wouldn't take that well, but luckily he did.

"Oh well London, Paris, Australia, Rome, and some other European locations! So lots of jetlag and traveling! I hope all of the different time zones won't get to my head. He's going to give us more information in the next couple days or so."

"Wow those are amazing locations! When do you leave?" He asks.

"Yeah.. um.. that's the thing. I'm leaving the second." I say nervously picking at my fingernails. I just started getting close to Joey again after he left for LA, and now I'm the one leaving. I mean we've kissed a couple times, I'm meeting his family during holiday.. I don't really know what we are right now but it's something more than friends.

"Of January? I'm gonna miss you so much! But I know this is going to be an awesome experience, so I'm happy for you."

"Yeah.. I'll miss you too JoJo," I say giving him a hug and trying not to sound too sad, "but, enough about me! I want to see what you got me, you seemed so excited!"

JOEY POV:

I can't ask her. She's leaving next week for half a year!

"Oh... well... my gift is what I've planned for us to do today! It's going to be a surprise, so get ready to go out, and dress warm!"

I give her a kiss on the forehead and she perks up. "Ok, sounds great! I'm excited!" She says as she walks over to the bathroom to get ready.

Well there goes my plan.

Katie comes back out in skinny jeans, a sweater, and a big warm jacket with a fur trimmed hood. "Ready!"

We get into the car and I start driving us towards Nicole's. Even though I didn't give Katie the bracelet, Nicole was still expecting us. "Sooo.. where are we going?" She asks.

"Right now we're going to Nicole's apartment and she's babysitting Jett right now. The rest of the day is a suuurpriseee though!" I say slightly teasing her with the mystery behind the rest of the day.

When we got to Nicole's I ring the doorbell to be greeted by an excited Jett. "JOJO! Katie!" He excitedly squeals at us.

He gives me a hug and then Katie. "Hey buddy! Merry Christmas! Where's Nikky?"

"Oh she's in the other room- come on!" He wraps his little hand around one of my fingers and pulls me behind him.

"JoJo! Merry Christmas!" I hear Nicole say as she comes over to greet us. "Nikkkkkyyyyyy!" I say giving her a big hug.

Then Nicole greets Katie, "Hey Katie! Did you like the gift Joey got you?" She said shooting me a smile.
