Joey POV:
I woke up today replaying the scenaro with the motorcycle girl in my head. Why did she leave without saying goodbye? Or telling me her name?
Today I'm hanging out with Luke and Ingrid at Echo Base. I'm going to drop by Starbucks and pick up their order before driving over. Luke texted me some fancy coffee he always orders with extra shots of coffee and different things in it and Ingrid wants a Tazo Tea.
I quickly get ready and hop in Satuski to go to Starbucks. I'm wearing a blue-green tie dye t-shirt with my Asos skinny jeans and All Saints black boots. I always find it funny that I can wear t-shirts without any other layers in LA during February and early spring, but I'd be wearing a heavy coat back in Boston.
Once I get to Starbucks I groan because I can see there's a long line through the front window. I park my car in the lot and find a space as close to the front as I can get. I check myself out in the reflection of Starbucks (let's be honest- don't we all?) and open the front door and stand in the back of the ten person line.
I look around the store as I wait and see couples sitting together at tables, people using their laptops at a bar section and a lot of people waiting for their drinks to be prepared on the side. I slouch my stance a little and pull out my phone, scrolling through my twitter feed. Cat tweeted, "Long lines at Starbucks. Ugh. Am I right?" I at-replied her, "Standing in line at the Starbucks we normaly go to! LOL." I swipe up and refresh my feed and there's nothing new.
I slide my phone back into my pocket and step up to place my coffee order. Once I've ordered I lean against the wall next to the platform they put finished drinks on. I tap my foot as I look around at other people who are waiting for drinks, wondering what they ordered based on how they're dressed. I know it seems judgy, but Cat and I always would make it a little game to see who can get the most correct.
If someone's wearing a turtleneck or a scarf, they're probably cold and ordered a warm drink. If they're a teenager, it's probably a not-really-coffee coffee drink like a Frapuccino. If it's someone with a backpack they probably got a coffee with extra shots. It's just a way to pass time.
I watch a group of teenage girls get their Frappucino's (see... I guessed right!) and a couple older kids that are probably in college get real coffee.
After a minute they call my name and I pick up my drink and walk over to add some milk at the table with the sugar and straws. I bump elbows with someone who says, "oops, sorry." I finish making my coffee and look up to see, out of all people I could've run into, the mystery girl.
"Hey! Motorcycle girl!" I impulsively, still in shock that she's here.
She looks up, "Oh hey, Satuski guy. Fancy seeing you here."
"I'd say the same thing. Thanks for all your help the other day-"
"-Oh, it's nothing. Don't worry about it." She smiles and turns to walk away.
"Wait!" I reach out and grab her sleeve causing her to face me. "I never got your name..."
She inwardly sighs, "Look... you're not really my type..."
"Who said I was interested?" I challenge.
She raises an eyebrow back at me. "It's Jasmine."
"That's a beautiful name."
