Sam was shaken awake by a nurse coming in to check on Rose's condition. Sam didn't like the looks of this one. She looked like the bubbly type that would give you your meds with a sticky sweet smile that would rot your teeth. These ones were tricky.
Sam gave her a weary look, and clutched at the blankets on the bed a bit tighter. As she did so, the nurse turned around with a surprised face.
"Visiting hours ended a while ago sweetie." The nurse said with a sickly sweet smile that Sam knew was coming.
Sam gave a weak smile, and managed to croak out, "I know. I just couldn't leave her like-" at this point she couldn't continue any longer and burst out into tears. The nurse set her instruments down, and walked over to the bed to put her arm around Sam. Sam gratefully accepted the comfort and buried her head into the nurses arm.
"I just don't want anything to happen to her." She said thickly, wiping her nose on her sleeve.
"I know sweetie," the nurse (her name tag read Mandi) said with a comforting tone. "But people all have their time in the world and-"
Sam grew ever more furious. She had heard this speech before. It was right before her father had died. She wriggle out from under Mandi's arm. "YOU KNOW WHAT?!", she shouted, "YOU CAN CUT THE CRAP. I'VE HEARD IT BEFORE. IF YOU THINK ROSE IS GOING TO DIE, YOU ARE WRONG. YOU ARE SO. VERY. WRONG. SHE IS A FIGHTER AND YOU CANT TAKE HER AWAY FROM ME CAUSE SHE ISNT GOING TO DIE. HEAR ME?! SHE IS STAYIG HERE. ON THIS EARTH." Sam stormed over to the other side of the room, scattering and knocking things here and there. She didn't have to worry about Rose's mother, as she was staying at the hotel across the street. She shattered a glass vase, and cut her hands and feet. She payed no mind, and continued to stomp viciously on the glass.
Mandi stood up quickly as she realized what Sam was doing. She picked up Sam, and sat her into a chair. Sam had given up already, and began sobbing, rocking back and forth on her chair. Mandi had radioed someone in from ward 12 to come and pick up a mental case.
At this Sam got livid. Another mental case huh? Well then. Let them sort out this nonexistent one. She stood up to make a run for it, and collapsed. The glass in her feet dug in further, and made her cry out in pain. She tried to crawl, and the glass in her palms cut her further as well. Giving up, she curled up. She felt a sharp pinch on her arm, and blacked out to the sight of strong arms picking her off the ground.
