Sam woke up the next morning with dread.  She had to go to group.  She let loose a groan, and rolled over.  Onto her hand.  She hissed in pain, and clutched her hand.  Wow, she thought to herself.  I've been groaning quite a lot lately, haven't I?    She rolled out of bed, and made herself a silent promise to reduce the amount of groans that escaped her lips.   Her feet touched the ground, and she let loose a hiss as her still tender feet hit the ground.  She fell forward onto the ground, and slammed her palms down to prevent her nose kissing the ground.  A slow realization came over her as her palms began to tingle.  Defeated, Sam rolled onto her side, and cradled her injured hands.  This is going to be a long day.  She thought, and sighed.  At that moment, Mandi walked in.  She stood in the doorway, soaking in the scene for a good  minute or so, and began to laugh.  As she stood laughing, Sam glowered at her from the floor.   Mandi collected herself, looked at Sam's face, and began laughing again.  Sam gave her time to collect herself, and politely said, "Now that you're done with your laugh fest, would you help me up?"   Mandi raised an expectant eyebrow, and waited.  Sam sighed, and added a sticky sweet, "Pwease Nurse Mandi?", and fluttered her eyelashes for good measure.  Mandi gave a sarcastic, "Sure sugar pie, want some ice for that boo-boo?" There was a short pause, as the two made eye contact, and burst out into laughter.  Once the pair had finally settled down, Mandi walked over to Sam, picked her up, and put her into her wheelchair.  Mandi opened the door, and wheeled Sam out.   On the way there, Mandi talked about Rose.  "She's doing a little better you know." Mandi said, with a small smile.  At this, Sam perked up and began to smile a little.  Mandi noticed the change, and began to smile a little more too.  The two wheeled down the corridor in silence, each absorbed in their own thoughts.   If Rose is getting better, there is a chance that she could wake up! The brain's swelling could go down, and she could maybe be with- Sam stopped her train of thought, and began to frown.  She had forgotten one key element in all of this, Rose was still straight.  Sam let out an exasperated noise, and slumped into her chair.  Mandi rolled the chair around one more corner, and made an immediate left into a small carpeted room, and stopped the chair.   "This is where I leave you," she said, "I must go and perform other nursing duties.  You can tell me all about your adventures when you're done.  Yea?"  "Sure." Sam said, still a little miffed at her earlier thoughts.  Mandi gave her a small wink, and exited the room.  Sam looked around the room, and took in the usual inspirational crap, mood charts, 7 signs of teen depression, why drugs aren't cool.  Sam stifled a laugh at that last poster.  Why Drugs Aren't Cool? Really? They must think we're two years old, or something of the type.   She snapped out of her sassy thoughts for a moment to look at the incoming arrival.  The counselor.  She stifled a gasp as the woman walked in.  I know her!!
