Sam woke up groggily, and reached up to rub her eyes. Or she tried to anyways. Her vision cleared, and she looked down as best as she could. Her hands were strapped to the bed. As were her ankles. She strained against her bounds, and nearly passed out from the pain. Black spots danced in front of her vision, and sharp pains ran up and down her arms and legs.
She let out a wordless scream of pain as her feet flopped down on the bed. Sam knew pain, but this was a whole new level.
As the pain spread, it slowly dawned on her what had happened the night before. At this she began to cry and scream. "ITS NOT FAIR! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME HERE!!! I HAVE TO GO SEE HER!! I HAVE TO KNOW WHERE SHE IS!"
Sam began to violently struggle against her bonds. She didn't care how much it hurt. She needed to get to Rose. A whit noise filled her ears as she struggled harder. Black spots flew before her eyes again. Sam was struggling, screaming, and crying so much, she barely heard or felt when the nurses flew into her room and pinned her down. She continued crying as she felt a sharp pinch on her arm again. Her thoughts slowed down as she blacked out once more.*Several Hours Later*
Sam woke up once again with a buzzing head. She didn't even need to look at her arms to know she was still strapped down. Though a thick strap round her middle had somehow added itself to the bed.
She had calmed down at this point, and tried to sort through her thoughts to clarify things in her brain.
I'm obviously going nowhere at this rate. She thought. And I'm certainly not getting out of this bed for a bit. So I'd beat sort this out. Rose- she swallowed hard at this Rose is not doing.... Well. At all. And neither am I apparently. They'll probably put me on painkillers and antidepressants and- she let out a long groan group therapy. Damn that idiotic group therapy.
Her thoughts were cut off once more as the door to her room creaked open. She saw that nurse, Mandi. Yes, Mandi. Walk into the room.
"You gave us quite a scare sweetie," she said with a smile, "I'm just gonna have to check on your hands and feet, and I'll be right out."
Mandi busied herself in getting blue plastic pans put under each foot to make sure the blood (if there was any) and looked at Sam bracingly.
"This is going to hurt sweetie. Be brave." Sam closed her eyes and braced herself for the oncoming pain.
The bandages came off agonizingly slow. Each tug was like a thousand bandaids being pulled off at once. Mandi noticed her facial expressions, and quickly, yet precisely, pulled the remainder of the bandages. Sam did her best not to scream. She looked at her foot, and saw a pink, irritated top. Mandi noticed her confused expression.
"The stitches are on the bottom." She said, "you've got fifty or so on each foot."
Sam winced. She knew she had done some damage, just not that much.
Mandi gave a relieved smile and said, "They aren't infected, and I'm very thankful for that." She gave Sam a reassuring grin and she re-wrapped the foot. "Ready for the next foot?"
