It had been weeks since the angels fell and you haven't heard from Castiel. You worried about him so much and work went by in a blur. Making sure your phone was charged and with you at all times in case he tried calling. You didn't sleep well, getting up every hour and checking your phone to make sure you didn't miss his call. For two weeks this went on. In a last desperate effort that night you got on your knees and prayed to him. "Castiel if you can hear me... just give me some sort of sign you're okay. Please Cas just let me know, if I can help. Be safe out there."
One more sleepless night. Thankfully its your day off so you can try to nap a little bit more. Shuffling through the rooms you were in a daze. You desperately wanted to hear from him. Scowering the internet you search for any sign of him. You know him so well that even the smallest thing could give you a clue to his whereabouts. Your eyes burn and your stomach growls. You look at the clock and its past four. "Where did the day go?" Getting up you leave the computer and fix a small sandwich.
Your phone rings and you answer it quickly, "Cas?" The other end was silent, "no I'm mother. Who is this Cas?" "Mom I can't explain now but I can't talk but I'll call you later." "You sound strange is everything okay?" "Kind of. I'll explain later." You don't give her time to answer as you hang up on her. She'll understand and calm down after a while. You pace a few more times then go back to the computer.
As you sit there is a faint knock at your door. Springing from the chair you run to the door. Opening it you see Castiel slightly swaying from side to side. He looks weak and his arm rests on your frame. "Cas!" You fling the door open and duck under his other arm, "come in." He staggers and stumbles a little as you guide him to your couch. Gently setting him down you look into his tired eyes, "what happened?" You see his shirt was bloody on his arm and you move to grab a towel and scissors. When you make it back to him you see he's very carefully trying to remove his shirt.
You move next to him and putting down the towel you pull the shirt over his head. He grits his teeth and hisses when he moves his arm. "Looks like you went a coupe of rounds with someone." "I did, another angel." He looked down, "well an angel." "What do you mean?" You picked up the first aid kit you wrapped in the towel. "My grace... it was taken from me. I'm not an angel anymore." "That's why you can't heal." You take out a cleaning pad and some peroxide and clean off the blood from his arm. "So you're a human now. Cas I'm so sorry." "You were the first person I thought of. It was a long and hard journey to get here. A lot harder now without my wings." "I'm glad you made it."
You share a look then move back to finish cleaning his wound. When the little bubbles from the peroxide no longer show you pat the area down and put some triple antibiotic on it then wrap gauze to cover it. "All better. Are you hungry?" Not taking his eyes off you there was a hint of a smile in his eyes. You put your hand on his and gave it a little squeeze. Getting up you went to the kitchen and looked at what you had. You grab some bread and slap a few things in between them. Grabbing some carrots from the fridge you put some into a small bowl and walk back to Castiel. "I hope a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is okay. I haven't made it to the store yet." "Thank you, its perfect." You hand him his plate and set the bowl between you two.
You both eat your sandwiches and you try not to watch him from the corner of your eye. It's hard because you wondered where he was and worried about him for some long and now he's here. In the last bite you move your tongue over your teeth to remove the peanut butter from them. You watch in the corner of your eye as he puts his finger in his mouth to remove the food from it. You nearly whine as his lips part and his tongue releases his finger. You grab a carrot and munch on it to distract your thoughts.
"So Cas what did you do in those two weeks?" He paused for a minute then looked at his hands. "I fought. I starved. I slept. You know sleep is harder than I thought it would be. It is essential to survive yet there are so many things keeping you from it." You nodded, "don't I know it." He looked back at you, "I... I heard your prayer to me. It was another reason why I came here. I knew I could get my wound cleaned without any danger." A feeling of anger and despair over came you and you fought back tears, "I can't imagine what you went through to get here but I'm glad you're here. This is a safe place for you and you are spending the night. You can sleep on the couch here." "I don't want to burden you more I can go..." You interrupt him, "where? Go where? And you're no burden. I'll get a pillow and some blankets for you."
