Dean's POV

I joined Jay at the lunch table and he gave me a very stern look which wasn't usual. He crossed his arms and I cocked a brow at him.

"Something the matter?" I asked.

"Look, mate, you seem nice and all but ima have to tell you to back off. I don't know what your intentions are, but I know that Ethan is fragile. He may seem like the challenging type but he's really a sweetheart. He's been through a lot and doesn't need more on his plate." The blue haired boy explained.

"Oh, I'm not really into him if that's what you were implying. I see Ethan as just a friend really. I just told him so." I replied.

"What?"

"He, uh, kissed me in the art room and I told him that I wasn't into him that way."

"You idiot! You probably broke his heart!"

"I'm sorry, I've only known him for about forty-eight hours and would like to get to know him more before pursuing a romantic relationship with him."

Jay got up and rushed out of the cafeteria, forcing me to follow him. But we both stopped when we saw a crowd of students in the hall, all muttering things amongst themselves. He pushed through to the front to see what was going on and I followed.

Ethan was brought out on the stretcher and wheeled outside by the paramedics. Jay and I rushed behind and saw our friend covered in blood.

"What happened?" Jay asked.

"He was hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat and lost a lot of blood." One lady explained.

"Get back to class!" The headmaster yelled to the crowd of curious students.

"Can we ride with him? We're his friends." I asked.

"Sorry boys, but it seems that you need to stay in your classes." She said, getting into the ambulance and speeding off.

Jay and I walked to class in silence. There was no way I could focus and do work. Not with my mind constantly making me worried about that sarcastic blond boy.
