This chapter is called quarks because I am introducing the evil queen Jadeanne as Lelani's evil ancester therefore making Lelani the good doppenganer.

Alec's PoV:

I have read thousands of love stories thanks to my older sister, Clara. But I have never experienced it thanks to working in the Volturi guard. So I took Lelani to a dinner and a show theater. I enjoyed it and by the look of it Lelani loved it. I found it funny how she was eating with one hand while covering her mouth with the other. I decided to walk around the park. It was twilight hour when we walked on the quiet peaceful path in the park. "Lelani, can you tell me why you are always running away? I know that you were searching for the Cullens. But you are living with them yet you feel the need to run away." I questioned as politely as I could muster. Lelani stopped. Suddenly her eyes were watery. She looked at her palms. Then she bit her lower lip.

"These hands have been used to kill. I have tried to kill people when I snapped. Alec, I don't deserve to be alive. I'm a killer." She said through tears. I reached to touch her hand but she pulled it away from me. She walked off the trail and sat on a fallen tree. She picked up a bark from the tree and cut her upper arm. I growled at her. "I know you can kill me. And I know you were sent for that reason." She mumbled. She put her opposite hand on the blood and showed it to me. "I'm not going to fight anymore. Kill me and this will all be over. Nemo can go back to Missouri. Brady won't have to worry. The Cullens can go on with their lives. Everyone will be better without me." She sounded so brave so determined to have this wish come true.

I truly wanted to yell at her or hit her or call her stupid. Instead, I pulled out a tissue from my pocket and went to her. I held my breath. As I cleaned her wound, she whimpered. "You are alive for a purpose. Lelani you were given a second chance for a reason. Don't tempt a vampire. You're lucky I already feed or else this date would have been over quicker than I planned." I said calmly. Lelani touched my cheek. I looked into her eyes. They were in between brown and black. Her skin was beginning to go pale. I pulled Lelani into a hug, knowing exactly what was going to happen if I didn't calm her down. "Lelli, please relax. Hey do you want to get ice cream?" She nodded against my shoulder. I pulled her to look at her face. She was calming down but the paleness was still there. Her eyes were back to normal. I leaned in and kissed her forehead. The heat coming off her skin felt tempting against my lips. I moved my lips to her cheek. I pulled her closer to me. If it wasn't for that dog smell she has all over her I would have drank from her already. I guess I have more self-control than I thought.

"Alec, are you going to take me with you or am I going home?" She questioned as she shivered from my cold skin against hers. I kissed her other cheek.

"Questions later, ice cream now." I replied taking her hand. She nodded with a sad look in her eyes.

Nemo's POV:

She's gone. The dumb bloodsuckers have taken her. Usalk is going to kill me. Lelani, I pray that you aren't dead... or worse... one of them. I shuddered at the thought. Sadly that maybe what she wants. I left just for one hour to get lunch in town. When I come back, Lelani was gone. Where could they have taken her? I know she didn't leave by herself because the leeches left their stench behind. Yuck the walking dead is the nastiest smell in the world. Basically it's like the smell of rioting flesh. The smell reminds me of road kill, disgusting and unwanted.
