Equinox (twilight fanfiction)

Present

Renesmee's POV:

      When I first met Nemo and Lelani, Jake and I were playing in the river. I was five years old but looked like I was nine or ten years old. Jake is now 23. So far my education has been close to college level. I enjoy reading for hours. My mom worries that I won't find my place in this world. Honestly I don't care. I'm too young to worry about that stuff. I'm five years old, remember. Also I have forever to think about that

    My grandma teaches me while my mommy, daddy, uncles and aunts are going to Cresent High School in Port Angeles. Jackey helps me sometimes with my studies but half of the time I'm teaching him more than he can teach me. My family thinks it's funny.

    Anyway we were splashing each other when we heard rustling in the bushes. Jake was facing the unseen people, hoping it was just an animal. He wasn't worried at all. He seemed to know who it was. When Nemo stepped out of the bushes in his wolf form, Jake smiled. "It's about time you got here." Jake called over. Lelani was lying on Nemo's back; a belt was holding her to him. She was covered in dirt and dried blood.

      The moment I saw her I knew I had to get Grandpa Carlisle. I didn't tell him why I needed his help I just showed him what I saw. He followed me to the river. Jakey was holding Lelani as Nemo guarded them. As Nemo was growling, Lelani mumbled. "Relax, Nemo. I think he's a Cullen." Nemo glanced over his shoulder still annoyed but he listened to her. I wonder why he listens to her. Did he imprint on her like how Jake imprinted on me? Grandpa Carlisle tended to her wounds in his office. Grandma Esme gave Lelani some of Mama's old clothes she wore before I was born. It was a pair of blue jeans, a flannel shirt, a long-sleeved forest green shirt, a black hoodie and a pair of black sneakers.

     About an hour later Auntie Alice and Auntie Rosalie came home. Lelani was sleeping on the couch, her head in Nemo's lap. Jake and I were asking questions when my aunts walked in the room. Auntie Rosalie rolled her eyes at the sight of Nemo. "Oh, great just what we need another dog hanging around here." She huffed as she stomped to her room. The three of us snickered quietly. Auntie Alice was grinning when she skipped over to see our guests.

Lelani's POV:

    The reason why I was all beaten up when I arrived to the Cullens' house is because I tried to fight off a buck after I killed a doe for Nemo. The buck messed me up a bit until Nemo stepped in to save me. I refused to go to a hospital because I don't have all of the information they need to admit me. We were on the coast of Montana anyway. So I tied myself and my backpack to Nemo's back. Then I held on as much as I could until fatigue caught up to me. My jeans were torn up and my three layers of shirts were coaxed in blood and dirt.

    When I first met the Cullens, my gift was going hay-wire. From Edward's gift to Jasper's then to Alice's it was so overwhelming. Renesmee's gift was nice though it felt nice not to have to explain everything. Bella's gift was boring to me, since I have one like it. Carlisle was the best doctor I have ever seen.  Edward didn't like not being able to read my mind. Alice was upset that she didn't see us coming. Surprisingly Jasper knew we were coming, Peter sent him a letter about us. To be honest I felt so belittled around the Cullens. They are just so good looking it felt natural to stare.

     I'm happy Nemo didn't try to kill them. I am happy he's stayed by my side for so long. I feel bad that he was forced to come with me on my journey. I miss my home and I bet he misses his pack. I'm glad they have a pack here, it probably makes Nemo feel safer. I'm ecstatic because I don't have to keep running any more. "I'm sorry we came so suddenly. Alice, I'm sorry you didn't see us coming because of the hybrid thing but I couldn't leave Nemo's sight for very long. I did once and look where that's got me, stitches, yuck." I commented as Bella cooked spaghetti for me, Renesmee, Nemo and the other werewolf, I think his name is Jake. The Cullens laughed in response. Emmett wanted to see my gift in action. But Carlisle noticed the distress on my face. He told Emmett no at the same time Nemo growled the word.
