‘You make your way in

I resist you

Just like this

You can’t tell me to feel

The truth never set me free

So I did it myself’

Chapter 9

We walked down the hall, Cole stopped in front of the space between a row of lockers, it wasn’t a private space but people hardly looked in that direction.

In the space we stood only inches apart.

I finally looked up at Cole, meeting his glare, he looked calm, but in an uncomfortable way, like the calm before the storm.

I stared into his deep blue eyes, searching for something and saw a flicker of anger.

I quickly looked away from him, focusing my gaze on the floor.

“What do you think you’re doing?” he asked evenly, not giving away his emotion.

“I’m standing in front of you?” I asked quietly.

“No.” He let out a frustrated sigh before running his hair through his hair, which had grown and a few stray strands were in his face.

“Do you know how embarrassing that was for me? My girlfriend acting out and beating up her best friend.”

“I know... I just...” I began but was cut off.

“I’m not done.” He said firmly.

He stepped closer to me, placed a hand on the either side of my arms and pushing me against the locker, his grip was firm.

“And another thing, can’t you keep your mouth shut? Do you need to tell Matt everything that goes on between us?”

“What?” I asked, the rage I felt earlier was creeping back.

“Did I stutter?” he asked.

I scowled at him, at the nerve of it all.

“I’m acting out? Well excuse me for having feelings.” I spat out.

His grip got tighter on my arm, but I didn’t protest, it was nothing I wasn’t use to.

“Is there no room for mistakes with you?” He asked, glaring down at me, his jaw tightened.

“What are you talking about?”

“I’m taking about you and I, I thought we got passed the fact that I cheated.”

“No you got past the fact; I never once said I forgive you for hurting me the way you did.” I replied.

“As I said before, I’m not doing all those things anymore, not since I knew I wanted you and only you, we spoke about this.” He said, frustrated.

“No, you spoke, I just listened.” I said coolly, trying to calm myself down.

We stared in each other’s eyes for what seemed like forever, but in reality it was only a few seconds before he dropped his eyes and he did something that I didn’t expect, he punched the locker, his aim was just a little way from the side of my face.

I jumped in shock, as his fist connected with the locker.

“Will you forgive me?” he asked, softer this time then before.

I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that he almost punched me in the face, but I knew he wouldn’t hurt me, because if he wanted to he could have just punched me right in the face, no questions asked.

“You haven’t proven to me that you deserve my forgiveness.” I said in a whisper.

He nodded in response, about to say something, when a voice said from beside us,

“There you are.”

Cole dropped his hands from me arms and stepped away from me.

I looked up at the voice, which was Matt, he was looking from me to Cole suspiciously but he seemed to shake his head, getting rid of what he was thinking.

“You really did a number on Kylie.” Matt said, a grin appearing.

I bit my lip, I hope she’s okay.

“I’ll see you guys later.” Cole mumbled and walked away, I knew he was pissed because we didn’t get to finish our conversation, but I’ll call him later once he calmed down.

“She’s still crying hysterically, some of her clones took her to the bathroom to get her sorted.”

“That’s good.” I said, slumping back against the locker, my head hurting, I haven’t even checked what I looked like.

“Hey, do you want to ditch for the rest of the day?” Matt asked.

“Heck yeah!” I said enthusiastically and smiled up at him.

He returned my smile, and ruffled my hair, something that he did a lot.

“Okay kiddo; meet you at your house in twenty minutes.”

We walked back to the gym separating as I walked into the female locker rooms and he walked into the male ones.

I dressed quickly and sneaked off towards my car, making a safe exist out of the school grounds without getting caught.

“We are going to watch Captain America!” Matt shouted from beside me.

We were arguing about what movie we wanted to watch, I wanted a romance movie and he wanted action, this was nothing new, we always argued about movies and that was the only thing we argued over.

“Twilight!” I shouted back.

“Dude! You have watched that movie like on hundred times.” He asid, shaking his head, amusement his eyes.

“One hundred and one actually, and it never gets old, the perfect romance.” I said.

I always wanted to watch twilight, mostly because it annoyed the shit out of him.

He folded his arms to his chest and then slumped in his seat, pouting, “I never get to watch what I want to watch he mumbled.”

I felt sorry for him, just this one time I would give in.

“Okay fine, we can watch Captain America.” I said.

“Really! Fuck Yeah!” he jumped up triumphantly, making his way over to the DVD machine and putting it in.

“I’ll make the popcorn.”

I ran to the kitchen, and made the popcorn quickly taking out two sodas.

I walked back into the lounge, Matt was already seated comfortably.  I put the popcorn down in front of us and the sodas and took a seat next to Matt. He put his arm around my shoulder and I snuggled up next to him, forgetting the events of the day and enjoying the company of my best friend.
