Chapter 1

You walk through the forest. Your hair blows in the wind. It's winter. A very, very cold winter. Your F/C scarf is wrapped around your neck. It's doing a pitiful job of keeping the heat in. You can't believe You're going back to the place that flung me into a state of depression. Phoenix Drop did not rip my heart out. It was him. You want to turn and go back, but you have business here. You need to speak with Laurance about something. You reach the rebuilt wall. You sigh, You'll have to take the long way around. A large blue-gray cat slinks out from behind a tree. "Ashley?" you whisper. The cat trots up to you, wrapping herself around your legs. You smile to yourself. "Come on," you say. You walk, the cat beside you toward the void of your past. And now your future. The gates are closed. You knock at the small guard entrance. Alexis answers. She immediately ushers you inside. She hugs you, "Y/N! You're back!" You smile, "Yes, do Laurance and Aphmau still live here?" Her brow furrows, "Laurance and Aphmau went to find the new home of the Phoenix Alliance," Alexis says. You're face falls. "They left with Nina." "Who's Nina?" you ask. "Oh. I forgot, Nina is their daughter..." Alexis trails off. "Oh," you say, "I have to see them. Do you know where I can find them?" "We have a leyline Lucinda set up, it can take you there." Your face lifts again, "Thank you so much, Alexis!" You dash through the village. Running in no particular direction. Wait, where are you going? You back up to Kawaii~Chan, Dante, and Nekoette~Tan's house. You knock on the door and Dimitri opens it. "Oh hi, Y/N, welcome back to Phoenix Drop!" You smile, "Thanks Dimitri, do you know where the leyline is?" He nods, pointing to the leyline. You've heard of these in stories, but people say their existence is incredibly rare. "Bye! Tell your parents I say hello," you say as you dash toward it. The purple lightning swirls around it. It's ironic, you know, but you can't wait to see the man who broke you. As you lay a sweaty hand on the leyline you're thrown into a small village. Only 6 houses. At first I see Lucinda. She's with Travis, they're holding hands on the beach. I smile, they remind me of Laurance and myself. I miss those days, and hold them dearly. "Hi guys!" you say walking up to Lucinda and Travis. They turn in surprise. Travis reddens, but Lucinda jumps up and practically knocks you over with a hug.
"Y/N!" she exclaims, "I heard what happened. I'm so sorry." You nod, gritting your teeth. You don't need people's sympathy. You need... What do you need? "Are Laurance and Aphmau here?" you ask. "Yes, in there," she points to a oak plank house. It's simple, yet elegant. Here I go, am I really ready for this?
