I stare as Nina flies across the room. Laurance looks as astonished as I feel.
"What, you didn't know?" Cadenza asks, giggling. Nina flies across the room, summersaulting in the air as she goes.
"Not a clue...." Laurance mumbles. You suppose it's logical: her mom's a healer, her dad a shadow knight. Laurance takes your hand. Cadenza and Nina start giggling like school girls when they realize you and Laurance are standing like that. Well, Nina is a school girl, but Cadenza has no excuse!
"C-Cut it out!" you fuss, stepping away from Laurance a bit. He chuckles, bringing you back into a tighter embrace. You look at him angrily, but then see his soft expression. It wares away your anger until you're laughing with the rest of them. Cadenza goes into the kitchen to tell the cook to make plans for dinner. Nina runs to tell all her friends about her newfound magicks.
It's just you and Laurance. He loosens his grip on you, smiling easily.
"So, there's a party tonight!" he smirks, "Do you want to go? I know we aren't exactly as young as we used to be, but...."
"Of course I would love to go!" you agree.
