You stare at the fire that engulfs Phoenix Drop. All of the people are running away, gathering water, or doing something to keep the flames at bay. You brake away from your trance first. The Tu'la soldiers are marching near us, but they haven't discovered the portal yet. You nudge Laurance. He can't tear his eyes from the village. You both have so many memories here. You pick up Nina. "Laurance, this is our cover, we have to go," you hiss through gritted teeth. Finally, he nods. You take his hand, allowing you to be pulled away from the traumatic sight. Nina burrows her head into your shoulder. You hold her closer, as your speed increases. Away from old memories, old troubles, and old pain. You run into a clearing, and suddenly stop. "It's night. We need to rest, I'll keep guard," Laurance says. "Alright, but can I talk to you after Nina falls asl-" you glance at the sleeping form in your arms. You chuckle, laying her in a soft patch of flowers. "Do we have a plan?" you ask. He nods, "I was thinking of heading to New Meteli. My sister will help us." You smile, he's always thinking. Laurance walks over to you, and tucks your hair behind your ear. "It's okay, you'll be fine. We'll be fine," he reassures. "I know, thank you. For everything," you say. You realize he's left everything behind to be with no other than you. That's devotion. You go to lie by Nina. It'll be morning soon, but it'll be good to get some rest. You stare at the canopy above you. There is a small point where the stars shine through.

It's so beautiful. You suppose that it won't be this way forever, might as well enjoy it as it lasts. Your eyelids grow heavy. Just... one... last... glimpse... Good night sky.
