Falling for Dalton Rapattoni

Chapter 4 (Mario Kart)

I arrived at Dalton's house just as the pizza delivery girl was walking back to her car.

"So you must be the lucky lady?" She stopped and asked me.

"Lucky? We're just playing Mario Kart....."

"Well whatever have fun!" She said and started laughing all the way to her car.

I was so confused. How did she even know that a girl was coming? What kind of person tells their plans to a pizza delivery service anyway?

As soon as I reached the door Dalton stepped out on to the porch.

"Ellie Flynn." He said as he smiled at me.

"Yes?"

"You ready for some serious gaming and fresh pizza?"

"I was born ready." We both laughed as he led me inside. We walked up the stairs to what I'm assuming was his room. There we so many band posters on the wall it was unreal how much it looked like my room. Then he had a black vanity that looked very similar to mine. He sat down on his bed and I sat next to him with my back against the head board.

He laid the box of pizza at the foot of the bed and he handed me a controller as he began to set up the game.

"The time has come for you to choose your character. This is a serious life decision. Who. Will. She. Choose?" Dalton commentated as he was waiting for me to pick my character. He picked bowser with a spiked black car. I chose Yoshi and a bike. "Wise choice Ma' Lady."

We both started laughing and I reached for a piece of pizza as he did the same. 

"Just out of Curiosity.... Why Bowser?" I asked him as we were both eating.

"Why not Bowser? He's so huge that you can't push him around!"

"Fair enough."

As we both came to the end of our first piece of pizza Dalton picked up his controller again. 

We played the races "Rainbow Road" (Dalton won), "Koopa Cape" (I won), and "Moo Moo Meadows" (I won). We were about to choose the last race and before he could I quickly pick up my controller and selected "Coconut Mall".

"Well fine then." He looks at me and again we are both laughing.

As anyone who as ever played Mario kart before knows,  you show no mercy. Dalton was in first pretty much the whole time as I tailgated him until lap three when he ran into a banana and I passed him and won. 

"That's not even cool. I was in first the WHOLE TIME!! You literally just passed me in the last 5 seconds."

"Yeah well I also 'literally' just won!" I began to laugh and him and then he smiled at me. Then there was this kind of awkward silence. I felt like he was about to say sometime but at that moment in time an image of Alex flashed into my head and I stood up.

"I'm sorry I have to go." I quickly said. 

"Going to walk out on a win? I see how it is."

"I forgot I have to go shopping with my mom for a new coffee table." That was not a lie but we were not going until later this evening and it was only 2 o clock. 

"Well when will I see you again?" He started walking me down stairs and out the door.

I turned back and looked at him. "I'll text you. Okay?" I tried my best not to sound nervous.

"Sounds great." We smiled at each-other as he closed the door. 

I didn't know exactly what to do. I mean I couldn't confess to my sister that there we already problems between Alex and I. Also I've never been one to share every little detail with my parents until after the situation is over. I didn't exactly have any friends yet beside the one that I just left. There was only one place I could think of going to. "Cool Beans"
