Chapter 23 (Now I See)

Yeah Yeah Yeah I know it's been like 8 years since I updated, but my summer has been busier than expected. I MET DALTY!!!! Anyways I start school again on Thursday and I will get my laptop back... so maybe I'll actually finish this book soon... maybe.

ELLIE'S POV

Dinner was only slightly awkward considering the circumstances. Fortunately no one brought up the whole Alex incident. That was good because I couldn't really understand the whole thing myself yet. We ate dinner as planned and Will being the Gentleman he is, he payed for all of us. After that we hopped back in Will's car as he drove us to the address on the note card from Alex. 

It was about and hour away, so it was a bit of drive. When we got there, the car was parked behind a hotel just like the card said.  

"Well here we are." Will said as he parked the car.

We all stepped out of the car and Dalton handed me the keys. I went straight to the car and got my phone and began charging my phone in the parked car. As soon as it turned on I called my mom. I didn't expect her to answer because it was almost 3 in the morning but I'd leave her a message. She didn't pick up. I knew I was going to have to do a lot to hide everything that had happened.

"Hey Mom, It's Ellie. Sorry I haven't called my phone's been dead and I must've left my charger at home. I'm really sorry if I worried you but let me assure you that I'm fine. Dalton and I plan on heading back in the morning. I'll see you soon Mom. Love you."

I left my phone in the passenger seat and went over to Will and Dalton who appeared to be saying their goodbyes.

"It was good to see you again buddy. I'm going to miss you like crazy. Why do you gotta be famous?" Dalton laughed as they joined in a bro hug.

"Haha. Maybe you could join me sometime. And Ellie too, if she can sing?"

"Trust me, she can." Dalton smiled and turned his head toward me and then back to Will. "But yeah, I would love that."

"Me too." Will smiled.

I went over and hugged Will too. "Will, it has been a pleasure meeting you and uh, thanks again for seeing through the stupidest mistake of my life."

"No problem young lady."

The boys did their handshake again and start to walk toward their cars. 

"See you soon?" Will asked will his window rolled down.

Dalton looked at me and I nodded. Then he turned back and said, "See you soon."

Will drove away but Dalton and I stayed in the parked car. It was silent for a moment. I was afraid that Dalton was upset. It started to get awkward so I spoke up.

"Look I know you might be mad that I didn't tell you about my plan, but I felt like it was the best thing to do. Of course we both know it wasn't and I can't thank you enough if you didn't come things would've been bad very soon and I guess what I'm trying to say is-"

I was cut off when Dalton pressed his lips to mine. We we're reached across the car, but that didn't seem to matter in the perfect moment. He grabbed the back of my head with his hands. After both of us were out of breath we looked into eachother's eye for a minute.

"Ellie I'm not mad at you. I do think you mad a very bad decision but that doesn't matter anymore. What matters is right now."

"I know. But I'm starting to feel things for you Dalton."

"Starting to? You kiss people you are just STARTING to have feelings for like THAT?" We both laughed and there was a pause before I spoke again.

"The whole situation has really made me think... a lot."

"About what?"

"Pretty much my whole life. I mean for starters I just wasted all that time on some boy who probably won't even remember which girl I was in 10 years from now. And then you throw in the fact that I haven't contacted my family in almost 3 days and I turned my phone on and no one had even tried to get a hold of me."

"I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault Dalton. I guess what I'm trying to say is that... Well... You're not like the doctor are you?"

"What?"

"I mean you're not going to let me have the best time of my life with you and then leave me behind and find a new companion? I've already been hurt in that way, so I just need to know."

He smiled. "As cool as it would be to be a time lord, I'm not going to do anything to hurt you Ellie. How'd you know I was a whovian?"

"Your keychain has a T.A.R.D.I.S. on it..."

"Oh yeah." We both laughed again.

"So you won't leave me?"

"I've been here for you since the day you moved in. Why stop now?"

We reached across an hugged each other again. Then we sat back and Dalton started the car.

He turned to me. "Besides, I live across the street. Where would I go?"

And once again Dalton made me smile.

"You ready to go back?"

"With you I'm ready to go anywhere."
