Falling for Dalton Rapattoni

Chapter 9 (Surprises)

After my emotional meltdown and unintended hard core friend zoning, Dalton drove me home. Although I know it hurt both Dalton and I, I felt like this would make our friendship stronger. I was a little worried that Dalton hadn't texted me all day, but at the same time I hadn't texted him either. So I decided to pick up my phone and text him at about 8 pm.

"Hey." I typed. 

I went back to playing the ukulele. When I noticed it was 11 I got ready for bed. Before I actually went to sleep I check my phone.

Nothing.

That morning was off to and unusual start. I was awakened by someone yelling "Ellie, Ellie Wake up" and shaking my arm.

When I opened my eyes I realized that it was Dalton.

"What are you doing here? More importantly at 9 in the morning?" 

"You remember the other day when I said we should go on a drive with no plan of where to go. Well today's the day. I already told your family. They seemed okay with it. Something about you needing an escape right now."

"Dalton." I say getting out of bed.

"Yes?"

"You're insane."

"I'm very aware of that. Now let's get you packing my bag is already in the car."

"What am I suppose to pack?"

"Whatever your heart tells you."

"My lord." I laughed as I grabbed an outfit and went to change.

When I came back Dalton handed my the suitcase I had put on my bed.

"Here you go." He said.

I took the bag and I felt full. "Thanks?"

"Now let's get going. The breakfast burritos won't be warm forever.

As we were about to walk out of the house I yelled to my mom. "Bye, I'll be back sometime."

Most kids would never expect their parents to answer the way my mom did. "Okay have fun."

How was Dalton that persuasive? 

He opened up the trunk of his car so I could put my bag in the back next to his. We got in the car and he handed me a burrito that I happily ate. He began driving and I didn't even bother asking where to. I felt like he knew exactly where he was going. But we just listened to music, talk

and kept moving closer to where ever it is that we were going.

I told Dalton that I was still tired and just told me to sleep in the car. So I did.
