Chapter 6 (Phone Call)

 That night when I got home from shopping with my mom, Dalton called me.

"Hello?" I said as I answered the phone.

"Hey." An already familiar voice responded. "Is now a bad time?"

"No it's totally fine. I just wasn't expecting your call."

"Yeah sorry. I just wanted to make sure you're okay. You were acting a little weird when you left today. I just wanted to make sure I didn't say or do anything wrong."

There was a moment of silence after he said that.

"Ellie?"

"Oh sorry. No you didn't do anything wrong. I just...."

"Just?"

"I'm not really sure what to say."

"Then don't say anything. Just listen."

"What?"

"Walk to your window and listen." 

I walked to the other side of my from and moved the curtain to the side so I could see through. Then I stood still so I could listen. Then I began to hear "Ugh" by the 1975 played from his room.

"Well?" He asked.

"You sure know how to cheer a girl up."

"I do my best."

We were looking at each other from window to window. After awhile he turn the song off. 

"Dalton."

"Yes Ellie?"

"It's 11:30. I should probably get to sleep. You should too before my parents call the cops of our "annoying neighbors playing music."

"If you insist. Well I'll see you..... Tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow it is then. Goodnight."

"Night."

And when I hung up the phone, I saw that I had one missed call, from Alex.
