On Saturday morning, soon after Genevieve woke up, she made her way out of bed and into the kitchen, where she saw her mother residing in silence.

"Morning," Gen greeted, no need to force grogginess into her voice, for she was genuinely tired from her late night endeavors.

"Oh, morning, sweetie," Donna said, startled and frantic as she shot up from her task. "Sleep well?"

She nodded and asked, "Did you get some pictures?"

Donna laughed and took out her phone from her pocket. "I almost got kicked out for you," she teased with a smile. She gave Gen her phone and watched as her daughter scrolled through with an ecstatic grin.

"These are awesome. Thanks, Mom."

"Yeah. So, there's a package here addressed to you. I found it at the door," Donna hinted, walking back over to where she stood and handing the cardboard box to Gen.

"Huh?" Genevieve took it and used the pair of kitchen scissors to break the tape. Unfolding the flaps, she tore the bubble wrap out and her heart stopped.

A black binder. A real actual physical binder.

"What the hell?"

"Surprise!" Donna exclaimed, wary of her daughter's expression.

Genevieve was still, staring at her gift with a blank countenance. Then, in one swift motion, she fell into her mother's arms and began crying. Not the single-perfect-tear-of-'affection', but the balling-your-eyes-out-because-your-brain-can't-actually-configure-the-amount-of-love-you-have-for-that-person crying.
