At the brink of tears, Gen choked out, "Oh my god, Frank."
"You like it? I was going for not too cheesy yet still sweet vibes. Think I nailed it?" he asked in his sarcastically serious tone.
Genevieve laughed and fell into his arms, resting her chin on his shoulder, whispering, "Definitely nailed it."
Frank smiled and hugged her back tightly, taking advantage of the short moment of contact. When he looked up at her, there really was a pool of salt water accumulating in the corners of her eyes. He laughed shortly and told her, "Stop it! Don't cry on me now, we still have a date to have."
She smiled and wiped at her eyes, then said, "Right. Date. How do these things work again?"
