Chapter four

Cody

Paige just left me and grandpa wouldn't let me go after her.

"Grandpa, whatever you need to talk to me about can wait until I come back"

"No Cody, I need you to make decision now"

"Lucas will you please go after Paige and help her, try to bring her back, or keep her safe until I get there" I requested looking at Lucas. "And give her this, it's number for her resort"

Lucas ran after her without any comment, he is my best friend and would do anything for me, as would I. "Thanks man , I owe you one." I said to leaving Lucas, then turned to grandpa.

"What is so damn important, that it couldn't wait?"

"Careful boy, I am still your alpha, I need your decision now, as I have meeting with other alphas, and I need to let them know"

" I am not marrying any one but my mate, so I guess I accept being next alpha."

"Good, good, are you ready to take first step?"

"What now!!!!"

"Yes, now"

"Megan, will you bring the bowl please?" Megan obliged and went into meeting room and got the ritual bowl and handed it to grandpa. "Thank you Megan, will you be our witness?" Megan just nodded and stood next to me. Grandpa made the cut in his arm and let the blood drop in it, then cut Megan's arm and took blood from her and then I did the same. Grandpa mixed all of our blood together.

"Drink this, if you are stronger than me, and if you are accepted then my tie with Megan will be broken and yours will be joined. If it works than you are the next alpha and can do whatever you want." I drank the blood from bowl, it wasn't much just one sip. Suddenly Megan started shaking and collapsed on floor. Grandpa helped her up and I got water for her. She was still shaking as if in shock. Grandpa gave her order to relax, but it wouldn't work, but when I asked her to rest , she fell asleep straight away. I guess I am the new alpha now. I got up, to go after Paige but grandpa stopped me again.

"You need to know few things before you leave, one being your second in command is probably lying somewhere, begging for you to come to him, second the female I chose for you to marry was none other than Paige, and third and most important is that Paige is the woman from prophecy."

"I don't believe this, you played me? And you don't believe in the stupid prophecy do you? That prophecy was written 100 years ago, and how can you be sure that Paige is the one? and how do I know who is my second in command? You are very dominant, doesn't that make you my second in command?"

"You'll find a way to find your second in command, he/ she will be the next strongest person after you and yes, I do believe in the prophecy because all the words from prophecy are coming true. You know that previous alpha can not be second in command to be the new alpha."

"What about Paige, how can you be sure?"

"I asked the oracle"

"What?"

"Yes, and she is the one told me that you need to become alpha, in order to protect her. I arranged for her to come here, without her knowing, every thing was planned except for one thing, her being chased by peter's wolf. You need to find out why are they after her? and do they know about Paige being the one?"

"No wonder she thinks I betrayed her, she probably thinks we are in this together, oh grandpa, you screwed up big time, is there anything you want me to know before I go?"

"Yes one more thing, read the prophecy as soon as you can, it will help you understand Paige more, I need to go and make everything official."

I decided to go after Paige before I loose her, I followed her scent and it was getting stronger rather than weak. Lucas and Paige were coming this way, and Lucas was in pretty bad shape. I ran to them and took Lucas from Paige, and started walking towards the house. I knew talking would make it worse and she might decide to leave again. She was following us , I could hear her, but I couldn't help my self from turning and making sure that she was following us. As soon as we got to the house Megan took Paige with her and I took Lucas with me into the study. As a werewolf we can speak telepathically, so I ask Lucas to hang in there. I didn't hear his reply, could be because he was nearly out of it.

"It had to be you! I was wondering who was going to be my second in command, how are you feeling? Here drink this " I gave Lucas my blood to drink, not much few drops, "it will make you feel better in no time."

"Thanks, I feel much better now. Will you tell me how all this happen? " so I explain everything to Lucas including Paige being the one in prophecy. Also how grandpa kept her prisoner and how she thinks I was in it as well.

"Before we go; we need to read the prophecy and find out what peter's game is? He was never this bold to challenge us, do you think he knows about the prophecy and Paige?"

"Where is the prophecy? And why don't you explain to Paige that you didn't know anything about it "

"I have got it here, let's read it, beside she won't believe me, I have to win her trust back and promise me that you won't say anything to her as well." I explained. Lucas agreed but wasn't happy about it.

"This is so bad, how am I to protect her from everyone and I can't claim her because she doesn't trust me. I am so screwed. The only person she trust right now is you, so you are on Paige duty. Let's go and see how she is doing?" I walked out of the study with Lucas on my heel. When we walked into the kitchen, she was just finishing her breakfast. She was stunning, my heart breaks every time i see her, afraid of loosing her. She was wearing short skirt and camisole. I think she looked perfect, as I was able to see her shapely legs in that short shirt and every time she breaths I could see glimpse of her skin. She turned at our entry and smiled at Lucas but completely blank me. Her smile was beautiful, and how I wish she would give me smile like that as well.

"Paige" I called her, she ignore me completely

"Lucas, how are you feeling now?" She asked

"I am perfectly fine, thank for not leaving me there" Lucas answered

I asked Lucas mentally, Lucas, can you ask her if she is fine and if she would join us for celebration at diamond club. I didn't know if Lucas heard me or not. If he heard me then it could come in handy.

"Paige you look nice, how are you feeling now?"

" I am fine Lucas, thanks for asking"

"We are going out, would you like to join us?"

"Megan, are you staying here?" Paige inquired.

Megan replied "no sorry, I am heading out but I am sure if you want to stay here, no one will mind."

"Thanks" Paige responded " yes, Lucas I would like to come with you, if it's no trouble."

"Paige" I tried again to make her speak to me, but she behaved as if I hadn't spoken. But I wasn't giving up either. Just as I was about to call her again, grandad walked in.

"Good, you are still here, I have told everyone in the meeting and they would all like to give you their blessing and continue with our alliance. I would like to make it official tonight, so I have invited everyone to come tonight, make a celebration out of it." Grandpa announced much too happily for my liking. I noticed that Paige moved behind Lucas, I felt bit jealous of her not coming to me for protection and going to Lucas also I didn't like my mate being scared of anything.
