Chapter Seven

Paige

I woke up screaming, scared to death of what would have happened to me while I was unconscious. Some one was there and was holding me down, so I started thrashing to get away from the hold, only to realised that the person was saying something and I knew that voice. My vision cleared and Cody was there the next instant and I clinged to him and held him tight. He saved me again, he was saying that I was safe and no one can harm me, as long as he is there. I couldn't stop my self from crying, he must be thinking I am pathetic. His constant voice was soothing me and his touch helped me ground my self and I calm down a bit. I looked at him, and asked him

"Do you know what do they want? Why are they after me? Oh god that guy was going to rape me!" and I started crying more.

Cody held me close and told me he doesn't know what they want from me but he will find out. He poured me something to drink which tasted a bit funny, when I refused he said it will heal me, and by the time I finished half the glass, I started liking it. I should be in pain but I wasn't and I know those dogs really did number on me, so I should be dead or in hospital. The question is why not? I drank rest of the content and lifted the cover to see my wounds. My clothes had been removed and I was wearing another one of Megan's outfit. After asking, Cody told me that Megan helped him remove my clothes. He's gone red on the face, is he blushing? No! He must have seen women more beautiful than me, why would he blush by this question? He got a phone call so he excused him self and went out of the room. I was surprised at not seeing my self in bandages and my wounds are mostly healed as if I wasn't clawed by dogs in afternoon at all. I got thirsty again and I pour my self more of the drink that Cody gave me, I finished the whole glass and couldn't stop my self from having another. By the time I realised I finished the whole jug, I must have been really thirsty.

When Cody came in Lucas was with him. They were talking about some kind of celebration but stopped half way when they saw me.

"What are you doing up? You should be in bed resting. You are not completely healed yet" Cody exclaimed

"I feel fine, what are you guys talking about?" I asked

Cody completely ignore me and gently pushed me on the bed and made me lie down, while Lucas answered my question.

"Paige you need to rest in order to attend tonight's celebration. Cody got kind of promotion and we are celebrating tonight".

"When can I ......?" Cody stopped me half way before I can asked.

"Paige there are some dangerous people after you and only people can help you are us. Do you really want to go to your resort and put your friends life in danger as well. Beside no one is looking for you and if you want to do the sight seeing than who is best to show you than local". Cody said pointing at him self

He made sense and some how that made me angry. I don't want to put my friends' life in danger, even if they are not looking for me (why are they not looking for me?). Cody turned to give me more drink and looked puzzled, which made me laugh. Look of surprise came on his face and for the first time he seems to visibly relax. He asked me if I finished whole jug and my answer seems to put him in worried stat. He didn't say anything but I could see on his face, I don't know why but I can recognised every single cody's facial expression, which is unusual for me as I am the least likely person to read any one. Both of them were looking at each other as if talking to each other silently.

I couldn't wait any longer so I asked "How come I am not in bandages and in hospital? I am sure that those dogs hurt me really badly." None of them spoke first then Lucas is the one who answered

"It's magic;" when I laughed he continue "how do you explain this, you were badly hurt, Cody felt you calling him and when he got there you were half unconscious. You yourself told me that those dogs clawed you and bit you. Can you see any mark on your body?" I had to lift my top to look at my stomach and there was no mark at all. He continued "how do you explain those dogs, have you ever seen any dogs that big? ( well I haven't until now). Do you know that I can see auras. Cody's aura is blue and yours is silver". I looked at him as if he was just messing with my mind. He continued "you know I can prove it to you". He left it at that, what was I suppose to do "prove it" I challenged.

"Lucas!" Cody interrupted before Lucas could say anything

"Trust me Cody, I know what I am doing" Lucas said looking at Cody. They stared at each other for long time and their facial expression keep changing as if they are communicating silently. That made me laugh and both of them looked at me, puzzled at my laugh. Cody got phone call and he left the room again. Is he the only one who works around here?

"Let me prove it to you, tonight I want you to hold Cody's hand when I show it to you, you will be able to see everyone's aura, but I will do that on two conditions."

Always asking something in return "what are they? And why do I have to hold cody's hand, when you are the one showing me, shouldn't I be holding your hand?" I asked.

"First you promise to stay here and not try to run off again and second you keep your promise to Cody." He continue: "I can see aura but I can't show you the auras because I don't have that much power but Cody has, he can take it from me and show it to you as well"

"Fine I promise not to run off again since it's for my benefit and what promise to Cody?"

"The promise that you shook on yesterday with Cody, about being his mate." Lucas reminded

"Yeh, that was before, he betrayed me and brought me to be a prisoner"

"Are you prisoner here?" Lucas asked "has Cody ever denied you for any thing?, he even gave me that number so that you can ring your resort" he continued

"Lucas, you don't understand, hell even I don't understand! I don't know why cody's betrayal is hurting me so much? I hardly know the guy; I haven't even spoken to that guy that much, my heart start to beat faster when I see him, when he is not with me I feel incomplete, when all the girls were throwing them selves at him at the club, I felt jealous! I don't know why? It's not like he is my anything and when I was in trouble I thought of him not you even though you promised me as well that you will protect me".

"That's because you promised each other to be mate for life, your bond to him helped him locate you, when you were in trouble; he felt you calling for him. Remember what I said its magic, here your promise bind you to your every words. Now will you stay beside him as his mate in the party?"

"You mean pretend, right now; I don't think of him as my friend, and remember I am upset with his betrayal"

"Fine, pretend but stay with him and if he introduce you to anyone as his mate....."

"Yeh, yeh; go with it, right?" I stopped Lucas before he continue. We were just finishing when Cody walked in carrying few bags. My heart skipped few beats at seeing him. Man it should be illegal to be this handsome.

He sat on the bed next to me and asked how was I feeling; and seems satisfied with my answered. He passed me the bags and requested "please wear one of these outfit for tonight's celebration and let me know if you need anything else" I just nodded. Both of them moved away from the bed told me to rest.

"Rest, I promise I will be here when you wake up" Cody said moving outside to sit with Lucas. "Paige I forgot to tell you, I found your bag and it's in that cupboard" he said closing the glass door. I could see them through the glass door. Both of them sat outside and started discussing something. And I drifted back to sleep feeling safe.
