Chapter 9: Bad Dreams

"You're a piece of shit" He yelled in my face. I didn't know why he was angry with me. He pushed me against the wall. "You're going to do what I say" He whispered in my ear and I knew what was to come.

I jolted awake, disoriented and inhaled deeply. I looked around not sure where I was. "Adam!" I yelled out. I felt scared. He ran in and a look of relief washed over his face. "You scared the shit out of me, Tayler! Are you okay?" He yelled and he calmed down at the same time. I didn't say anything. The dream was probably because I'm nervous. I have school in 3 hours. "Just a bad dream" I mumbled. "The same dream?" I nodded. I got up and I opened my arms asking for a hug. He walked up and hugged me tight. "It's okay, you're okay"

"Adam are you gonna star walking to work? What are you gonna do?" I asked. "I'll just walk. I mean it's not too far away. I need to start working out again anyways" He laughed a little. "Anytime you work on the weekends I'll take you" I mumbled and I took a little extra of my medication. I grabbed my book back and keys. "I should be back around 4" I mumbled and I left the apartment.

I found a parking space in the huge parking lot. "Fuck" I mumbled to myself and I got out of the truck and grabbed my stuff. I found my first classroom very quickly. I didn't know anyone here. I was super nervous and I couldn't pay attention. There was a lot of people here. I couldn't breathe. I got up and I left the classroom and went to the bathroom. I splashed some water on my face before I left the bathroom. "Tayler? Are you okay?" I turned around and Katelynn was there. Why is she here? "I'm okay. What are you doing here?"

"I go here"

"Really?" I was a little out of it.

"Yeah I was just in Mr. Delano' class." SAME class as mine.

I nodded. So she's going to the same school as me and we have some of the same classes. Fucking  awesome.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She asked again and I nodded. I took some more of my meds and I went on to finish my first day of school. I pretty much stayed near Tayler the whole day. "Do you want to hang out tomorrow?" She asked me before I got in my truck. "Uh- Yeah, sure" I smiled and I got in my truck. "After school?" She nodded and I started my truck, ready to go home after a nerve recking day. Today was not my dad but I was glad for Katelynn being here to save it.

I made it back to the apartment and I sat outside for a little bit. I began to take a walk, maybe to clear my mind. I decided to stop by the record shop. Maybe Adam was still working. "Adam?" I called out to him. "Tayler? How's was your first day of school?" He ran up to me. "It was okay" I mumbled. "That's good, kid. I told you you'd do fine" He ruffled my hair and went back to working. "I'm bringing Katelynn over tomorrow"

"What? Who's Katelynn? Is she nice? Is she nice to you?"

"Yes Adam, she's nice"

"Are you sure?"

"You can find out tomorrow"

Before he could say anything back Katelynn walked in. "DEAN" She yelled. She ran to the back room where I assumed Dean was. "Guess you're meeting her today" I mumbled. She seemed distraught though. I could hear them talking in the back room but I couldn't make out what they were saying to each other. Dean walked out followed by Katelynn. "Tayler? What are you doing here?" She asked, trying to cover up her obvious sadness. "My brother works here" I mumbled. "Adam, this is Katelynn" I introduced them to each other. "Uh- hi" Adam put his hand out for her to shake and she shook it. Adam was always usually wary of every person I meet. She smiled a little bit and walked outside. "Hey-" I followed her. "Are you okay?" I stopped her. "I'm fine is just my ex-boyfriend" She mumbled. Ah, boyfriend. There goes my chances. "I understand. You don't have to explain to me anything" I mumbled and I started to walk with her.
