[L A N A]

The girl rested her arms on the marble counter and let out a tired sigh. The beads of sweat slowly appearing on her forehead, she had an awful headache and on top of that the kitchen was extremely hot and filled with the yelling and orders coming from side to side.
" C'mon Lana, I don't pay you to do meditation in the middle of work." Her boss snapped his fingers in front of her. Oh, boy, how she hated when people did that.
Lana bit the inside of her cheek to control her temper and suddenly felt the taste of metal in her tongue.
"Yeah, I'm sorry and I felt a little dizzy, that's all." She didn't even look up at him and rounded him to keep working.
"Hey, Lana, could you take this to my table? the one with the guy in a blue suit and laughing for everyone to hear." The curly haired boy said rolling his eyes. Lana snorted and made her way out of the kitchen. She found the table rapidly.
" Here you go, sir." She put the white plate in front of him.
"Took you long enough, eh, kid." Lana thought he talked like he had a potato stuck in his mouth and almost laughed.
"Well, good things take their time, sir." She said politely with a smile and with her arms behind her back. The old man laughed.
"Such a clever girl, dear." A woman in her mid 40s said. " By the way could you bring us more wine? please. This is such a fine one." Lana nodded and didn't stop smiling.
"I want more champagne." A brunette suddenly spoke and Lana looked at her, their eye contact lasting longer than usual and the young girl arched an eyebrow, rising her glass as if asking why the hell was she still on their table.
"Dad, you said the service here was good and efficient. You must be new, right?"
"I'm sorry, I'll be right back."
She walked, almost jogged back to the kitchen with an annoyed face.
"Sometimes I feel like quitting this job." She walked towards the boy from before. "but then I remember I need the money to buy food." Ashton, the only friend she apparently had, chuckled.
"You met the lovely family?" He laughed.
"Yes and please they need more of our fine wine." She mocked the woman's voice. "Oh, and champagne for the girl demanding efficiency."

Lana served the beverages and was ready to get back in the kitchen.
"The employes better be faster for our dinner." The girl demmaned. Her mom murmured an okay honey.
"Yes, I don't know if your boss already told you but we're having an important and big dinner here in a couple of days, of course we expect everything to be in order and to work perfectly." The old man took a sip of his wine, doing weird movements with his mouth like he was some wine taster.
"You have nothing to worry about, Didiore's never disappoints." Lana felt her cheeks hurt from smiling too much.  "And with your permission, may I ask when is this dinner?" She had no idea of anything and mentally slapped his boss from never announcing things.
The young girl popped into the conversation.
" What's your name?" She asked.
"Lana." The young girl flicked her perfect hair and rested her elbows on the table.
"Okay, Lana. I don't wanna think you're complaining, right?" Alana shook her head."Fine, you should ask your boss then, we already did the reservation with the details and now we'd like to enjoy our food." The brunette had a cynical smile. Lana was so tired of her attitude, treating her like she was below her. She didn't notice she accidentally dropped a few utensils.
Lana wanted to curse so much. Murmured some quick apologies and picked everything up. "My family and boyfriend are coming to the dinner, don't show up if you're gonna mess up." Lana never let anyone treat her like that, she was biting her tongue because she knew her boss already disliked her and couldn't afford to loose the job.
She gave them a quick nod and disappeared, frustrated and embarrassed.

The night was cold but she didn't mind, she enjoyed winter. She breathed in, feeling her lungs fill with fresh air. Lana needed to relax before college starts again and decided to mess up her sleeping schedule, more than it already was.
It was her second year and she wanted to already become a lawyer. Lana rubbed her hands together.
She wished Calum could pick her up, because well, walking alone at night wasn't her cup of tea.
However, Lana just wished she could be with Calum and call him whenever she wanted and needed.

"You haven't left yet?" Ashton asked from behind and she jumped with a hand in her chest. "Oops." He giggled.
"I was just thinking." She narrowed her mouth. Ashton rolled his eyes playfully.
"Need a ride?" He wiggled his keys.
"I'm not denying this offer." She smiled.
Ashton was the only person, until now, she could actually count on. She was kind of a reserved girl when it came to establish laces with people.
Calum has seen Ashton a few times and when he did, the tanned boy just acted suspicious.

They got in the car and the heater stared warming them both.
"So...thinking about the forbidden boy?" Lana sighed, Ashton was the only who knew because he saw them once, Calum was picking her up and they were acting undercover.
He felt bad, no girl should be used nor hidden from the world by your boyfriend.
"No." She dragged the word. "I'm just stressed. I can't stand people treating the employes like shït."

"I know, those people are just plain awful. We will have to suck it up this Friday though." Ashton looked at her for a few seconds and then focused on the road again.
"Right, why does everyone know about that except me?" She complained.
"You're always spacing out, love." He said softly and chuckled.
Lana couldn't believe he didn't have a girlfriend. Ashton was really sweet and kind, let's not forget incredibly attractive too.
If it wasn't for her special affair, (it started to feel like she was just an affair to him), Lana would probably go out with him, but she just had to be head over heels over a taken boy.
Ashton was completely single, in the beginning of his 20s and a future music teacher.
"Lana, you know I really care about you and half of the stress you get, it's because of, uh, Calum." He said in a calm voice.
"Yeah, maybe...I feel so stupid like I always make bad decisions, I should've probably throw that vinyl away." She sighed. Ashton reached for her shoulder and gave it a little squeeze.
"Don't say that, we both know you don't mean it." He smiled sweetly at her." You're not stupid, maybe just a little naive and in love."
They reached her apartment and both were so tired, it was midnight after a long, occupied, day as waiters.
"Love...." Ashton murmured. The girl looked at him after unbuckling her seatbelt, She never bothered by the names Ashton called her, they were sweet and comforting, somehow. " Let's go to the movies and maybe eat something this weekend, y'know, to get away for a bit." Ashton played with the hem of his shirt. Lana bit her bottom lip. "As...friends." He clarified and felt slightly dumb for that, she would've said yes anyways. Seconds later two continued yawns escaped his mouth.
"Sure, Ash." She giggled. "And you better crash at my place. You're not driving that tired."

"Don't worry about it, I don't live that far." He assured her.
"It was an statement, dear and sleepy boy." Lana grinned. " And I'll most likely drag you out of here with my 5'1 foot. We don't want that." The boy laughed with his eyes closed.
Ashton turned off the engine and followed the short girl to her apartment. His insides filled with happiness.
