Megumi*
Guren had taken me to my dorm. It was so lonely---lonely without Ferid. I moped in my bed, crying at the fact that my emotions were so fragile, and my heart was too cold, to bare the fact that I wanted friends. Deep down I wanted to be Haruki and Kenji's friend, but...another half of me wanted me to be secured in Ferid's arms. I thought I loved him, even when he was biased to me. He protected me, fed me. And surprisingly enough, he never bit me.
I rolled over to face the dull ceiling. It was sundown, so the sun rays were blooming through the glass a bit. It was pretty cold too, so I kept rubbing my forearms up and down to build some friction.
A knock soon came at the door. I sat up and glance at it, wondering who it could possibly be. "Who is it?"
"It's me, Kenji."
A bit startled, I quickly put on my socks and boots, scurrying to the door. I open it, seeing Kenji, standing there with his hands dug into his pockets. "Yo." He greeted.
"Hey." A fade blush embedded into my cheeks.
"M-May I come in?"
"Sure...!" I moved aside allowing him in. He went to sit on the chair by my desk, as I went to sit on my bed. "W...well...how are you?"
"I'm doing okay, how about you?"
"Could've been better." I grumbled.
Kenji chuckles to himself. "I know right."
"So what brings you here to my...little room?"
"I just wanted to talk a bit more. Didn't really get the chance to in class. Guren can be such a pain..."
I giggled a little, trying to remain humble. "I see. He seems to be a nice guy though."
"Yeah, he is when he wants to be...I heard that during the war that he has recovered from recently, he was possessed by his weapon, Mahiru. What a bummer."
"Really? No one told me about that!"
"Seriously? How long have you've been here?"
"Only for a week and a day now."
"In this school??? I've never seen you here though."
"Oh, well, I mean I've been in the campus for over a week now. I've been in this school starting today."
"Interesting."
"Mhm."
"Welp," Kenji stretches his arms behind his head, leaning back. "I hope you're capable of staying here longer."
"Why? I ask a bit uneased.
"Tomorrow is when we begin training. Also, when we go and obtain our cursed gear!" He cheered.
Stunned by his casual outburst, I opened my mouth trying to push out the words I wanted to get across, but it shut tightly immediately.
"We're going to become the best heroes, just like all the others who have died for us!"
"Oh."
Noticing my weary looks, Kenji cools down. "What's wrong? You should be excited."
"It's just that..." I got up and gazed outside my window. "...I...I don't think I'd be fit to be supporting this firm. I mean, look at me. I have absolutely NO experience in using weapons and 'cursed gears' you guys use. Plus, I don't actually have a family..."
