Arwin's POV

I pulled my coat tighter around my shoulders. It was fucking cold, way too cold for my comfort. But I couldn't go back, not again. That's right, I've run away before. I knew that I would be found by cops if I didn't move. I grabbed a pipe that was attached to a building and started to climb. I reached the top and slumped against a vent which was spitting out hot air, helping me escape the bitter cold.

I sat there for a while, the only sound was of the occasional car on the road below. I heard the faint sound of music tickle my ears and perked up. Music? Where was that coming from? I got my answer almost immediately, some people on a rooftop not far from my own were having a party. I used my parkour skills to get to the rooftop beside the one where they were having a party as and sat down to watch. The band was pretty good, but now that I was away from the warm heating vent I was shivering again.

"Guys, I think there's someone over there!" One of the people exclaimed. The band stopped playing and I stood up.

"What are you doing up here?" A tall blonde man asked, standing on the edge of the roof to talk to me. I guess it's too late to get out of here.

"You should go home, your parents are probably worried about you." A ginger man said.

"No!" I cried, not caring to mask the fear in my voice. "Don't make me go back there! Please!" Tears were streaming down my face and I turned away, wiping the water off of my face. I ran, I'm pretty good at that. I stopped when I couldn't hear the sound of the party anymore and curled into a ball. I don't know who those people were, but they can't make me go back there, no one can make me go back there.

I must've fallen asleep on that rooftop because I found myself there in the morning. I rubbed my eyes and sat up, the sun was blindingly bright, making me squint to see. I searched the rooftop and found a pipe that went to the road below. I looked to make sure no one was there before sliding down the pipe like a fireman.

I found myself a library and went in, I would like to seem like an average girl who hasn't run away. People who passed would look at me oddly and I realized why. I grabbed my backpack and went into a bathroom. I took out a hairbrush and pulled it through my purple and mint green hair, making sure I looked normal. When I was satisfied I put the brush back in my bag and went back to sit down.

"Shouldn't you be in school young lady?" A librarian asked walking over to me and crossing her arms.

"I'm homeschooled." I lied, "I came to find a book for a book report."

"What kind of book are you looking for?" The librarian asked, uncrossing her arms.

"I'm not quite sure, I'll just look around and see if anything catches my eye." I told her, standing up and walking over to a line of bookshelves. The librarian didn't follow me and I let out a breath of relief. I looked at the books, might as well not that I'm here. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a ginger man, the same one I had seen last night. I quickly went on the other side of the bookshelf, hoping he hadn't seen me. I was in luck, he hadn't. I kept looking at the books, every once and awhile glanced to make sure the man hadn't seen me. The ginger took out a book and walked right in front of the bookshelf where I was standing, he glanced my way and we both froze.

"I know you!" The ginger exclaimed.

"Shh!" The librarian who had talked to me earlier cried. The ginger nodded and turned back to me.

"Shouldn't you be at school?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

"I'm homeschooled." I said, giving him the same lie I had given the librarian.
