Luke's P.O.V.
"Wow," she exclaimed, smiling at me. Her eyes were filled with joy.
I was sure that it would be no problem at all. She knew how much I wanted to pursue music. And I won't let her down. Ever.
"I'm so proud of you, son," she continued.
"We're just starting, mum," I chuckled, shaking my head.
"I'm okay with it," she nodded. "You can go. I'll support you. But I'm thinking about your school."
"Yes, mum," I frowned. "I know how important it is but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I wanna finish school but it would have to wait a little longer, I guess. Well, if that's alright with you. But once I can, I will go back to school and finish my studies."
"I understand, Luke," she smiled. Then she opened her arms for me; "come here!"
I grinned, scooting closer to her as she engulfed me in a hug. "Thanks, mum. I won't let you down, I promise."
"I know," she said.
"Well," I pulled away, standing up. "I gotta go now, mum. Don't wanna miss out on anything at school just yet."
"Take care, sweetie," she called as I walked towards the door.
"I will," I looked back at her and waved. "Love you, mum!"
"I love you, too, baby," she waved back.
I closed the door and ran to the car waiting for me. Michael was already out front for the last 10 minutes. Since mum doesn't allowed me to have my own car yet and I said I'll be doing something, I asked him to pick me up.
"Hey," he greeted the moment I stepped inside the car. I looked at the back seat where a black haired girl was sitting quietly, smiling at me. I barely recognized her until Michael spoke again. "Oh, Stella's gonna be riding with us to school."
"Hi, Luke," she smiled. The bags under her eyes were visible. She was a lot thinner than the last time I've seen her three years ago. It was no secret to us how abusive his step dad is, Michael told us about it. "How's it going?"
"Hello, Stella," I nodded, frowning. "You... look..."
Michael cut me off, fake coughing. I glanced at him and locked eyes with him.
He shook his head.
"... different. You look different," I continued, shrugging, leaning back at the seat. "Good different. Anyway, have you told your mum yet, Mikey?"
"Nope," he said, popping the P. He started the engine, pausing for a second, and, soon, we were driving off to school.
"So," I started after a few minutes, pushing on the conversation.
"I don't know," he shrugged. "It's just, you know, she's not into music or other activities. But I told dad earlier."
His tone went more cheerful as he said it.
I chuckled. "Your dad? The coolest dad ever alive?"
"He's not cool," Stella huffed. I looked at her at the rear view mirror just in time to caught her rolling her eyes at me.
"I saw that," I laughed.
"Whatever," she giggled.
"Well," I continued. "Bet he's the opposite. What did he said?"
"Said he'll talk to her tomorrow when he comes down," he grinned. "How 'bout you, bub?"
"I'm all good to go," I chirped.
"Ah, I wish Calum will be with us," he said. "If only Joy let her go."
"He'll come 'round, I know," I said.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing Calum anytime soon.
