Taylor didn't shut up for the whole ride home. She kept repeating over and over again what exactly, detail for detail happened. Well, not exactly. Each time there was at least one minor detail that changed.
It drove Lauren crazy, not only did Karla/Camila now know that she was coming to see her tomorrow, but Taylor also refused to keep her mouth shut.
Lauren tries to focus on the road in front of her, but she's starting to get a pounding headache and Taylor's constant talking didn't exactly help.
To say that she's glad to be back home would be an understatement. As soon she parks the car she jumps out of it and rushes to the house, leaving her sister alone. She doesn't mean to be rude, but her headache is simply killing her. She practically runs to the bathroom to grab the bottle of painkillers that is calling her name.
She downs a pill with a little water. The thought of feeling better in a little while already does wonders to her head. Lauren sighs, rubbing her temples to soothe the throbbing. She slowly walks towards her room and lies down on her bed.
A worried Taylor appears in her doorway. "Lo, are you okay?" she asks softly before sitting down next to her older sister. "I noticed something was off in the car, but didn't think much of it. Was it something I did?"
"It's not your fault, Tay," the green-eyed sighs. "I guess I'm just overthinking some stuff and it's my brains' way of trying to get me to stop," she tries to joke.
"What were you thinking about?" Taylor ignores her attempt to lighten the mood.
Lauren bites her lip softly while she contemplates telling her sister about her situation. Deciding she shouldn't ruin the image her sibling has of her idol and especially of herself, Lauren just brushes it off. "Maybe I'll tell you later, but I can't right now."
The younger Jauregui looks at the older one skeptically, but she accepts the answer she was given and doesn't press the issue. "Well, you know where to find me if you change your mind. You can always talk to me," she smiles softly before exiting the room and closing the door behind her.
"Don't be so sure," Lauren whispers as soon as she's alone again.
One way or another, it suddenly all seems so much more real now Taylor had met Camila. This morning she was rather sure of herself and her plan, but now Taylor had told Camila that she would come to see her tomorrow. And somehow the thought of Karla knowing of her plan, made her so much more nervous.
This way Karla also had time to think about it and it could affect her reaction tomorrow.
In the end, it didn't really matter whether Karla and her ended up in each other's lives again. But Lauren genuinely wanted to make up with her.
Back in middle school, she just didn't understand. She didn't mind the fact that Karla had feelings for her, she was her friend and she trusted her. It was her friends who told her that it was wrong and that they shouldn't be talking anymore.
At the time she didn't think much of it and listened to them. It was later that she learned that nothing had been wrong. It's not wrong to have feelings for someone, no matter who they are. Karla was always very respectful towards her, she had had those feelings when they were still friends and still never did anything to make Lauren feel uncomfortable.
The thing that makes her want to apologize now, was simply the fact that she now knows that Karla had a rough time because of her. Also because she can now imagine what that kind of rejection must have felt like, only because she was a girl.
