I am an outcast

Standing in the background

No one even notices

That I'm breaking into pieces

I look around

Trying to find

A friendly face

Who is willing to replace

Their pride with a friend

And lend a helping hand

But for now they are only dreams

Because the world is cold and mean

Some people just don't have the heart

To come up to me and say "You're smart"

Or even "Hello"

People can be so shallow

And disrespectful

I am given dirty looks

And hurtful stares

Just because I like books

And eat pears

It sounds so silly

That people would judge me so easily

But that's my point exactly

People ignore you just for the smallest things

I can't outlast

Because I am an outcast.
