Dear Max,
It's October, AKA my favorite time of the year. I love the cool weather and the crisp air. I love the pretty colors the leaves turn and the satisfying crunch they make when stepped on, but you already knew that.
Halloween is right around the corner. It makes me happy to see all the spooky decorations filling the store shelves. Halloween always was my favorite holiday, well, right behind Christmas anyway. I like the idea of being someone else, even if it's just for one night. And the candy! I remember last year we trekked Arcadia Bay about three times in our pirate gear, hauling as much candy as we could carry along with us. It was so much fun! Last year was the first time our parents let us go trick or treating completely by ourselves and it was amazing. We felt on top of the world. I wish this Halloween would be exactly the same, but you're not here and neither is my dad. Halloween will probably never be the same.
Mom and I went to the pumpkin patch today to pick up our pumpkins to carve, just like every year. It was different, because you weren't with us. I remember we'd spend hours picking out the perfect pumpkins to carve and we'd spend just as long making them into Jack o lanterns. Mom would take the seeds and bake them, so when we finally were content with our creations, we always had a delicious snack waiting for us.
I hope you're still celebrating Halloween and hopefully you still think of me this time of year,
Captain Chloe
