Brendon sat at my piano, playing "The End of All Things" focused on the keys, and petals.
"Come here," Brendon patted the spot next to him.
I sat beside Brendon and he turned to me. "Play something, I want to see your skills."
I rolled my eyes as Brendon moved his foot away from the petal.
I began playing "Hey There Delilah" and humming along as I go, my fingers moving on the keys easily.
I played the last note, and Brendon smiled at me.
"You're really good, why don't you like do something in the musical field?" Brendon asked, and I cocked an eyebrow.
"You're kidding me right? I'm awful at being in front of twenty people, how would I play for four thousand?" I laughed and Brendon shrugged.
"How did you do the book announcement?" Brendon chuckled.
"Those fans have known me for years, they're like friends, but concerts aren't I guess, there's way more people, and-"
"It's the same but more people," Brendon smirked at me, and I rolled my eyes. "If you play for one of our concerts will that change your mind?"
"Um, what?" I laughed, and Brendon nodded. "No! I'm not doing that! I don't want to die from playing on the same stage as you!"
"Please?" Brendon smiled.
"No," I shook my head.
"What if I paid you?" Brendon joked.
"No! I'm not taking your money!" I laughed and Brendon sighed.
"Fine, but you're going to answer a question I'm about to ask, okay?" Brendon smiled and I nodded.
"Sure," I replied.
"Will you go to the AMAs with me, as my date?" Brendon questioned and I choked on my own spit.
"What? The AMAs?!" I covered my face, and Brendon wrapped his arm around me.
"As friends, but nobody has to know that we're not friends-"
"I- I don't know," I admitted, and Brendon looked at me confused. "It's flattering it really is, but it feels like you're trying to introduce me to your fans and I'm not ready for that, they'll hate me," my head hung low.
"Okay," Brendon put his hand under my chin, and raised my head. "It was a test anyway, to see how you'd react."
"Brendon!" I hit his shoulder, both of us laughing.
"You passed!" Brendon smiled.
"I hate you," I laughed, and Brendon shrugged, wrapping his arm around my waist, pulling me closer beside him.
"Okay, I'm alright with that," Brendon kissed my cheek and I felt my stomach swirl.
"What was the test anyway?" I asked and Brendon smiled.
"To see if you thought it was too quickly, and the answer was yes," Brendon answered. "Good job babe."
Babe.
He called me babe.
I laid my head on Brendon's shoulder, smiling at the way he makes me feel.
Brendon's phone began ringing, and he pulled it out of his pocket answering the call.
"Hello."
"This is he."
"What's up dude?"
"I'm just hanging out with my girlfriend-"
Brendon's face turned pale and mine turned bright red.
He called me his girlfriend.
Am I?
Do I want to be? Hell yeah.
Brendon got done with talking to his friend and stayed silent, looking at the wall in front of us.
"So I'm your girlfriend?" I laughed and Brendon sighed.
"Do you want to be?"
"I'd love to," I smiled and Brendon hugged me tightly, resulting in us falling off the piano bench.
I fell on top of Brendon, and my face turned red as I rolled off him.
"So we're dating officially now," Brendon smiled at me, and I nodded.
Brendon leaned over and kissed my lips with a smile. "Okay girlfriend, what do you want to do?"
"I don't know boyfriend, what do you want to do?" I laughed, and Brendon shrugged.
"You know, I want to go somewhere I've heard about," Brendon sat up.
"Where's that?" I asked.
"The place where you have Partner Problems hiding," Brendon jumped up and began running.
"No!" I laughed, chasing after Brendon as he ran in my room.
Brendon ran into the closet aka where the first copy is, and looked around. "NO!" I squealed as Brendon grabbed it.
Brendon held it in his hand above his head so I couldn't reach it.
"Brendon I swear to god if you read it!" I groaned.
"I won't, but you have to kiss me," Brendon chuckled and I rolled my eyes.
"Sure, give me the book," I put my hand out and Brendon lowered his arm.
"Kiss me first," Brendon puckered his lips.
I pecked Brendon's lips then grabbed the book, holding it to my chest. "I'm going to go grab a beer, want one?" Brendon asked and I nodded.
I walked upstairs to hide my book, and I walked into the guest room with Garret's things that I can't find myself to get rid of... Mostly because his mom hasn't come to get them yet.
I walked into the closet and put it on one of the shelves, then I sat on the floor, just coming into this room makes me feel bad.
Then I saw a note in the box of Garret's things that his mom packed up.
I walked over confused, I've never seen it.
I opened the letter and saw Garret's handwriting.
Ellie Manchester/Heggan,
Hello my beautiful wife, how are you my darling? Right now I'm laying in my hospital bed, and you're asleep right next to me, dry tears staining your cheeks.
Why does my body do this to me? Tell me I can't spend my life with you, and that I must leave? The answer is because you have greater things ahead of you, better people to meet, and a more amazing guy to hold you tight.
Even if I won't see you again person to person for a while hopefully, i know there's a guy out there who's going to help you heal from me. Hold you when you cry, and tell you everything's alright.
That comforts me. I love you Ellie, and I have since kindergarten. I'll miss you deeply, and see you soon.
Love, Garret
