Chapter 1

Starting off

I’m in Hell.

Its 9am, I feel like shit, hey, I look like shit too. I haven’t had my coffee yet. Besides, Starbucks isn’t an option. It wasn’t easy pretending to be the broke college student. Bull, I am the broke college student. Okay, getting back to the point.

I’m at a wedding.

My best friend’s wedding. Where, I am the maid of honor.

Well. It’s actually a wedding ritual. It’s the “holud” ceremony for those Desi’s out there.

Even though its 9am in the morning and I am at the venue, two hours early, I am still late. I have no ounce of makeup on, my hair is up in a real messy bun and I think I still have eye boogers. I think it’s a miracle I even managed to dress this morning. However crappy it may be.

I did this for her.

This chick, Sunni has been my best friend since freshman year of High School. Those were some weird years but I’m glad I had Sunni throughout it all. If one good thing came out of High School it was Sunni. We’ve just always stuck together. Yup, she is in fact getting married. Her fiancee is Siddarth. She met Siddarth, senior year of High School. Where, they immediately hit it off. Don’t get me wrong. Siddarth is an awesome guy. One of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Well one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met anyways. If there was someone I would e okay with marrying my best friend it would be him 100%. But there is one con. Every since she and Sid have been together she has been “trying” to set me up. Although I appreciate the thought that she cares oh so much, I’m not damn interested. Being one of Sunni’s maid of honors and her best friend, it’s my job to be there every step of the way for her. But since we have known each other a long time, she knows me and my habits, which will never ever change.

“ASH!!!!!”

Uh-oh. That doesn’t sound very good.

I turn around and there she is. Nope, not the beautiful glowing bride. Although I kind of wish it was….

Sunni’s other maid of honor.

The third remaining member of our trio.

There stood Tara.

Whoa. I can practically see the steam coming out of her ears. She always had been punctual about time.  She’s OCD like that. She walks toward me till were face to face. Straight-facing me the entire time. Not even commenting on my “outfit “. Whoa this is intense. She’s wearing her apparent “casual” outfit. I snort. Casual my ass if you call wearing heels with spikes. Yeah totally casual, but really who am I to judge. I then realize her lips are moving and she’s talking. Damn, me and my drifting off to space is not good.

“You were supposed to be here an hour ago! You know how stressed Sunni is? She needs you! She needs us! Hey, are you even listening? HEY!” says Tara. Tara snaps her finger in front of me. Tapping her heels lightly annoyed. She looks like she’s about to stick her spiked heel into my eyes about now. No joke.

“Wah?” I say totally out of it. See this is what a sleep deprived girl is without her morning cup of Joe is like and I still manage to be late. Tara sighs annoyed  “Oh gosh. Never mind, just hurry up Sunni’s waiting”. Tara then walk towards the way she just came from. Her 6inch stiletto heels clicking every step she takes.

“Okay, lead the way” I say sarcastically. I then proceed to follow Tara.

Damn, even wearing 6 inch heels she’s super fast. I quicken my pace.

Next thing I know I’m down on the ground clutching my shoulder in agonizing pain.

Ahh. Isn’t it just a fine morning?
