Chapter 7
Now you want to talk?
After that night I haven’t seen Karthik… at all. Considering he’s Sunni’s cousin and Sid’s best friend from London, you would think that I would be able to see him often. It’s like he has disappeared off the face of the earth. But after asking everyone if they have seen him and receiving a response that they have, I know he’s around, but it’s not like I want to see him either. That night was just so random. But I just want to ask him what came over him. Why did he of all people run after me and comfort me. I had thought that he would stick by my side so I can ask him why, but I haven’t had the chance considering he’s avoiding me and to be honest, it was making me really mad.
Thank gosh today is actually the wedding day, the last wedding related thing! Everything since that night has been fine; the rest of the wedding rituals went completely fine. The only thing that’s wrong is my brother Virat, after he stormed out he hasn’t even called to yell at me and threaten to tell mom and dad yet. Odd. I was sure the minute I got home I was going to face my doom. But don’t think I’m just going to just relax, my moment of doom can occur any given time. So dramatic aren’t I?
I was currently busy carrying these heavy boxes, when I happen to bump into someone. No bump is just too gentle. When I bump into someone, I bump into them hard.
“Ahhh!” I scream, tumbling to the ground, dropping everything everywhere.
Thanks gosh I am here early so no one saw that.
“Oh I am so sorry” said a familiar deep voice.
Well only this person here had seen that.
I look up at the person that I bumped into and my anger immediately flared. Well, well, well, if it isn’t the person that avoided me for the past few days.
“We have to stop meeting like this.” he says trying to lighten the mood. I grunt in response, so ladylike I know. He gets up and extends a hand to me. Yeah, right buddy! I get up by myself and lightly brush off my clothes. He takes his hand away and awkwardly scratches the back of his neck. Yeah, way to play it cool buddy ole pal. I roll my eyes and gather my things and then walk away. “Hey! HEY WAIT!” he yells.
Oh so now he want to talk? Too bad for him I am not in a mood to talk. Well I’m not one to keep a grudge, but um, I don’t think I want to talk to him…..at all. I walked faster; trying to get out of his sight as soon as possible but soon he catches up with me.
“Hey, what’s wrong with you?” he says frowning at me. I ignore him, trying to calm my rising anger. One of the traits I inherited from my family, a very short temper.
“Oh so you are using the silent treatment on me now huh? Well that’s a relief for me. I don’t have to hear your dreadful voice. Hey did you know you are actually quite likeable when you don’t open your mouth? You should do it more often.” He says chuckling. That’s it. I let the anger get the better of me.
“What’s my problem? You expect me to just be all buddy buddy with you after you so skillfully avoided me the past few days? It isn’t me mister that has the problem, it is you, you butt face” I yell.
“Butt face huh? How very clever and so very mature of you.” he says smirking at me.
Not this again.
“Out of everything I just said that’s all you happen to catch?” I scoff.
“It was very skillfully wasn’t it?” He says grinning widely at me.
“Whatever.” I mutter and start to quickly walk away from. He catches up with me. Damn. Again. It must be those ridicously long legs of his. Damn him again.
“It is me, or do it seem to me that you missed my presence ?” he says smirking.
“Listen you incompetent idiot, I didn’t miss you at all. In fact, I was hoping you were already gone by now, but alas look at my luck, you are still here.” I said quite harshly.
“You are not getting rid of me that easily babe. I am here to stay.” he says giving me a look of triumph. “Not If I have anything to do with it.” I mutter quietly so he doesn’t hear.
“Whatever just leave me alone and all will be well, okay?” I say as I walk away from him again.
“No can do babe, you are just way too interesting to just let go that easily.” he hollers from where he’s standing.
As I finally walked away from him, there was one thing on my mind; what the heck just happened?
