The Forgiving

The letter crinkled between my tightening fingers as tear drops fell against the fragile paper. My feet seemed to move for me. My brain was blurred with fragments of memories.

Fresh air met my face, filling my lungs with oxygen my hands clasped onto a solid banister.

Benjamin Crane is not my father, Jasper Daniels was but he didn't want me. My mother Sylvia Keller came back to Scotland to look after my grandfather because he was dieing. I was left in America with a man who was not my father but said I was his, but in the end he still never treated me like a daughter. It all makes sense now! It's so messed up but it makes sense.

Two arms enclosed me in a tight embrace. Burying my face in the familiar warmth. I grasped Nathan's jacket pulling him closer as the tears fell down my cheeks in rivets. Sobs shook my body as Nathan's head lay atop of mine. I made my decision.
"I want to sell the Estate!" I chocked out. Pulling back to look up into those golden eyes. They were full of anger. I wasn't sure why but I had a faint idea. "Let's go home." I nodded weakly before making our way back inside. We found Andrew excusing ourselves from the Estate. I wanted to get away, I wanted to breathe! Hoping into the car I fell against the seat. I wanted to get away from this house! The sound of the gates closing behind us brought a feeling of peace to my mind.

"Why don't we get some lunch then go home?" Nathan asked taking my hand in his.
"Thank you!" I gushed out. Nathan looked over his glasses at me.
"What for?"
"For being there, for hugging me, for understanding!" I whispered squeezing his hand tightly. We drove back through the small town stopping at one of the only stores that sold take away food. Walking hand in hand down the street, I felt safe and at home. We always got the occasional glance from fellow towns folk who still didn't know who I was yet, I was Nathan's girl! Thats what everyone called me, everyone just seemed tp accept me. I was happy about that!

The minute we got home we grabbed plates and cutlery and sat down outside on the deck with a blanket. A warm glow cast though the trees surrounding the house in its own dome of warmth. I loved it here.
Leaning back against the house I picked up my sandwich eating it slowly. Today was a rush!

"I forgive her!" I suddenly said. My mouth speaking my thoughts.
"What?" Nathan asked being the clueless goof that he is.
"I forgive Sylvia and I forgive my dad, also I forgive Chris!" I said pernouncing each name carefully. I glanced at Nathan, his hatred for Chris flashed over his face.
"Why? Chris doesn't deserve your forgiveness" Nathan huffed out. His cheek flexed as his eyebrows knotted together.
"I'm sick of being so caught up in all that drama, I want to forgive and forget! I know that this is Chris's baby but that's not going to change the way I live my life. I want to be happy. I want to live a happy and positive life! So I'm forgiving them!" I said simply but I was serious. Completely and utterly serious. Nathan slung his arm over my shoulder pulling me into him.

"I know that I'm still new in your life! I know that some people see me as the towns spoilt rich boy. But I don't deserve to act out and follow that title. You see meeting you gave me a new start almost. The way you have been treated and the way your life has been I don't deserve you! So that's why I'm going to do what ever I can to make everyone one believe it, especially you. I love you! Nothings going to change that." I can see how's he's changed. He started off with the bad boy attitude, but somehow I changed that. I don't know how but I'm I did.
"I love you too! Now I just need to sell the Estate so I can move on." I said finishing off my sandwich. The sun warmed my skin blissfully as I relaxed into Nathan.

"I wouldn't change my past but if I can have a better future I would like you to be in it!" I whispered glancing into those golden globes. The fire seemed to burst as I said these words. Nathan clasped my chin brining my mouth to his. Perfect! Kissing Nathan was like going on a roller coaster with fireworks exploding around you.

"What do you think about a cafe?" I questioned. Nathan's ears prick up mechanically at anything that has to do with food.
"What do you mean?" Nathan pulled the sleeve of his jumper up to reveal his colourful tattoo. Looking at him you wouldn't think he was the tattoo kind of person but it looks damn hot.
"Like maybe after we sell the estate, we use that money to start a cafe! There's even an empty shop on the main street that would be perfect." Excitement bubbled in me.
"That would be amazing! The town does need something new and fresh." He chirped fiddling with the watch on my wrist.
"Exactly it would be perfect! I could go to that baking school in Edinburgh. You can choose different days in which you can go. Kate could baby sit when your at work."
"Sounds good but first you need to actually have the baby!" He laughed. Well 3 more months.
