"My Grandfather told me that there is a book that he found years ago and he hid it in the clock tower. He told me that the floorboard that creaks not is the one to seek. That's what he said word for word." Fye said as we ran towards the clock tower. Inside was dark and spooky.
"How are we even suppose to find the book? All the floorboards creak!" I said to Fye.
"Maybe," he began walking around the room, "it means something other than the obvious."
"What do you mean?" I said following him around with my eyes.
"My grandfather meant something different. I just know it. I bet he means it's under-" Fye stopped when he stepped on a floorboard in the left corner of the room, "-the one that doesn't creak." I ran over and helped him lift up the floorboards. I coughed as dust flew everywhere.
Under the board was a dusty brown book. He picked it up and started to page through. Somewhere around page 30, he stopped. Folding the corner of the page and closing the book he placed the board back and grabbed my hand. My whole body turned hot at the touch.
He pulled me out of the clock tower and toward the guys dorm rooms. "What are you doing? I can't go in there!" I said as I pulled my hand out of his grip.
"It's fine. Nobody ever notices. I could walk in wearing a gorilla suit waving sparklers and they wouldn't even notice. Come on!"
His dorm room was big, probably because he was a trainer. The rug was white and he had a red couch and chair. A sleek black coffee table sat in the middle with a flat screen TV hanging on the wall.
"Want something to eat?" he said behind me.
I admit, I was hungry. The last thing I ate was a poptart. "Sure."
"I have blueberry muffins. Is that okay?"
"Aren't you suppose to eat the fire meal?" I asked, taking the blueberry muffin from the white tray he carried over to the coffee table.
"Yeah. But I never eat it. Everyone thinks you're suppose to eat the meal everyday, but that's not true. Nothing will happen if you don't. In fact, you only have to eat it once a month, just to make your power a little stronger."
I finished my muffin just as Fye was coming toward me with the book. I was about to move because if he sat next to me, we would be super close, but he sat down and I felt it would be rude to move.
He opened the book to the page he bookmarked and read it to me. " There will be a war, a battle, a clash between all. One girl whose eyes sparkle with red will rise. Gaining the knowledge of the ones before, she will end the clash, the battle, and the war." He looked at me and nodded his head slowly. "You're definitely the one."
"There's more, look." I said grabbing the book. "It says: Many will try but all will fail to stop the girl with the flaming hair."
"Wonder what that means" Fye said. Closing the book, he placed it in the drawer. "It must be about you, so what does 'girl with the flaming hair' mean?"
I got up and began to head out the door. "Maybe it's about someone else," I offered. This was all getting too weird for me. "I don't have flaming hair. Anyway, I gotta go. See ya later."
Closing the door, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Good. It's all right, I am not part of this prophecy. I opened my eyes and was nearly thrown back in shock. There were 3 guys surrounding me. They had professional suits on and 2 of them had guns. The other guy was carrying a sack and rope.
"You need to come with us." The one guy said in a very deep voice.
"Um, who are you?" I said cautiously.
"We," he says and looks around at the rest of his crew, "are the Enders."
I begin to back away and bumped into Fye's door. I screamed as they began to advance. They then burst into flames only a couple feet in front of me.
"Quick!" a voice yells from behind me. Someone grabbed my hands and began to drag me through the open door that suddenly opened behind me. Fye ran in front of me and closed the door, latching it so they couldn't get in.
"Why did you lock it? It's not going to hold for long, did you even see the guns those guys had?" I asked him.
He dragged me to the back of the room. Fye was about to say something when the door burst opened with a bang. In came 8 suited guys dressed in black carrying guns, taser guns.
"Get behind me," shouted Fye, pushing me behind him.
"Just give us the girl and nobody gets hurt," said one of them who seemed to be the leader of the group.
"Why do you want her?" Fye said, challenging the leader.
"Safe keeping. So nobody hurts her," the guys said with an evil smile. I wanted to tell Fye that it didn't seen to be true; he seemed to know though. One of the guys began to lift up his taser and aimed it at Fye. No! Do something. Think, think. Fye wasn't paying attention. Quickly, I lifted up my hand, pointing it at the guy. Before the man pulled the trigger, he burst into flames. Right then, all the other guys lifted their guns pointing at Fye and I.
Fye gasped as he turned to look at me. Ignoring his gasp, I stood up and walked to the center of the room, in the middle of the men. They all turned their guns toward me. Anger filled my veins and fire shot all at once. Every single one fell to the ground, burning to a crisp. Once they lay in ashes, I turned around to look at Fye and the leader.
Fye, barely able to speak, said, "Y-Your hair. I-It's on...FIRE!"
