‘Mum can we go to town today please?’ I mumble.

‘Sure sweetie, taking Dylan?’

‘Yeah, please mum haha thanks’ I smile.

We started to walk through town and browse in the windows. It was 12pm me, Dylan and mum started to get hungry so we went to Subway and got lunch. We sat down just as something catches my eye.

Who was that? Why was that person acting like a maniac as if they were going to murder someone?!

‘Sally. Sally? Earth to Sally!’ Mum squeals.

‘Oh, um sorry, what?’ I tremble.

‘Ugh girl, I know it’s the weekend but don’t get too distracted you’ll get all that sauce down your new top!’ Mum chuckled as me and Dylan joined in.

We walked into the centre of town and decided to sit on a bench. It was blazing hot so I trudged along with mum and Dylan to the ice-cream van.

‘Uhh.’ I groan.

‘One Honeycombe and vanilla, one mint chocolate chip, and one strawberry please’ Mum smiles to the man.

‘Sure’ He replies ‘That’ll be £4.50 please’

‘Here’ Mum hands over the money.

‘Cheers’ He giggles.

‘Thank you!’ We all drool in sync.

We go back to the bench and demolish our ice-creams; I decided I was going to go to the toilet.

‘Mum I’ll be two minutes, just going to the toilet’

‘OK honey; hurry up though we’ll be making a move soon’ She grins.

I stand up and take one small step then all of a sudden all the walls come crashing around me. A loud ‘BANG!’ shocks me as my body collides with the hard stone floor. I slowly look down at my stomach. I cry with pain as the town crowd either run away with horror or stand around to watch. My words slur but I manage to make some words and a speech.

As the bullet crashed into my stomch, the ear piercing 'BANG!' made little kids cry in terror; children cling onto their parents; people stopping; birds flapping away; insects scurrying away.

A bullet. One single bullet is all it took. Someone... just someone fired a gun at my stomach. The pain is so unreal; I just wanted it to go faster, so I could die quicker, less painfully. Blood flowing, fastening.

‘No! Sally, don’t leave me. Hold on’ Dylan cries, scrambling to the floor surrounded in scarlet red blood. My scarlet red blood.

I hold onto my stomach and look around, scanning for the idiot who ruined my whole life. I finally thought everything was going smooth but then BAM it all changes. I guess I took life for granted. A police car and ambulance pull up after two minutes (quickly because there’s a police station right next to the town) but it was too late. I was probably a goner. I manage to say a speech as I hold tightly onto Dylan’s and my mum’s hands.

I never thought this would be the way I'd die.

I guess life is full with loads of surprises.

But the questions is... Did Mr. Herrit kill me?

My grip loosens and I wail with pain but soldier on and manage to squeeze my words out, whilst waiting for my destiny doors to fling open and abduct me. Thick, deep red blood was spilling out of my stomach. In pain I manage to whisper to Dylan:

‘I love you with all my heart. Don’t let this tear your life apart though. You have the whole of your life awaiting. So don’t mourn and grieve for ages. Let me go, please. I love you Dylan Kurtson. Don’t cry, I love you goodbye Dylan’ I see his face grimace and hear the shrieking of my mum rushing down by my side, but it was too late… I close my eyes and await my imminent death.
