CHAPTER TWO – KYLA & IVY
Kyla hated crying. It made her feel powerless, no longer in control. It made her eyes red and puffy. And she couldn’t afford that if she planned on looking her best at the party later.
She watched Sebastian stare at Ivy all day during school. Ever since she came around, it was as if Kyla was losing him. Kyla hadn’t told anyone, of course. If she did, then she’d look insecure. She’d look like a pussy. And she refused to look like a fool. Besides, she kind of liked Ivy. She was cool.
Maybe she was just overreacting. It wasn’t like she didn’t look at other guys, too. There wasn’t anything wrong with looking. As long as looking didn’t turn to touching, kissing, and fucking, she guessed it wasn’t wrong.
Technically, she and Sebastian weren’t together. Sure, they touched, kissed, and fucked. But Sebastian wasn’t her boyfriend. She wasn’t sure what went through his mind sometimes. He certainly hadn’t said much of anything, regarding their relationship and any time she’d bring it up, he avoided the topic somehow, making Kyla forget all about it.
She wanted to be with Sebastian. That’s why she’d been crying. She wanted him to be hers, and only hers. She hadn’t talked to him about it. The reason why was because she was afraid of rejection. She always felt like she was the girl on the side—less important. She wasn’t completely sure if Sebastian fucked other girls or not. He probably did, though. She didn’t blame him. They weren’t together, after all.
Kyla got up from her bed, wiping her tears. She went in the bathroom and looked in the mirror at her eyes, swollen and red from crying. She let out a sigh and turned the shower on. She undressed and stepped under the showerhead, letting the warm water pour over her.
Ivy laid out four different dresses on her bed. She didn’t know what to wear. She didn’t want to look like a slut—at least, not completely—and she didn’t want to look like she was inexperienced either.
Tonight was the night. It was the night. Ivy wanted one of the twins. Sebastian and Kyla seemed to be together, so she guessed that it wasn’t gonna happen. Isaiah was available, though, and it was better to have one twin than to have no twin at all.
Ivy could have any guy she wanted. She’d been catching Isaiah staring at her, as well as Sebastian. Even though she hadn’t done anything, she was off to a good start. Maybe Sebastian preferred her to his little girlfriend. She’d know by the end of the night.
After walking back and forth in her towel, she tried to decide on which dress she should wear. They all made her look irresistible, which was why it was so hard for her. “Shane!” she shouted, deciding that she needed an opinion.
A few seconds later, her older brother came into the room buttoning his shirt. “What do you want?”
“Which dress should I wear?” she asked, pointing to her bed. He shrugged. “God, do you have to be so useless?”
He sucked his teeth. “I don’t know,” he said. “The blue one.”
Ivy picked up the dress and held it up. “I think this’ll go good with my new eyeshadow,” she said, smiling at her brother. “Maybe you’re not so useless after all.”
“Whatever,” he mumbled and closed the door. Ivy sat at her desk, pulling out her makeup bag. She applied some blush, then eyeliner and mascara. She slipped on the dress and put her boots on. She was ready now.
