If you want to freshen up and move forward, Fuckboys is a great book to start off with. Because literally, the male lead is a fuckboy - or at least turns into one.
There are many elements of 'BadBoy' in 'Fuckboy.' Such as the whorish ways, the wicked innuendoes, dirty mindset and... Well, they're pretty much the same in that aspect.
The reason why this book is refreshing is because it's the only book so far that takes out the typical BadBoy perspective. When you think of BadBoy, you think of traumatic past, tender heart and trust issues - Fuckboys? Not so much. In fact, because it's so broad, it allows the author to expand and generate different ideas that are less cliché and more original.
The humour is more ironic and the author seems to love sarcasm. I mean, just by reading the first line in Chapter 1, you'll get what I mean.
I also love the characters - most especially Ellie, the bff and fuckgirl of the book. While some characters are stereotypes, they are stereotyped to an extent. Not only that, but the stereotypes are more modern personalities that can be applied to today's social society. BadBoy with the bike? Nah, I'm a just fuckboy with great hair.
While there are differences, there are still great similarities that we all love in BadBoy books - the girl who has had a bad experience with guys. In this case, not a cheating ex, but a fuckboy. And the male lead? Lucas also just moved into town like the typical mysterious hot guy - but he originally arrived as a nerd, not a fuckboy. I absolutely loved the transformation - it's not common in BadBoy books to see the change, but it's actually really great.
What can I say? The grammar, spelling, language and expression are perfect - nothing is described too much not too little. Everything just slots into place when you read it.
And the chapter titles are pretty cool. The first one is 'hatred + truth' and the next is 'truth + demolition.' See what he did there? The second word in the previous chapter is the first word of the next and so forth.
Anyways, this is probably the worst review I've ever written, but I swear this is worth a read. Go try it, I assure you that the book is better than how I described.
