RECAP:
"Apologise. You got 5 seconds." He started counting down. "5,4" He took off the safety on his gun. "3, 2-"
"Okay, I'm sorry! I'm sorry man! Please don't shoot! Please, please! I'm sorry man!" This fool Marques was begging for his life. Marques had tears streaming down his face. By this time, Marques was on his knees. A smile crept up on Reuben's face. He cocked his head to the side. Marques stood, wiped his eyes, sniffed a bit and glared at Reuben. Reuben let his arm drop from Marques' forehead but still stared at Marques. After a few seconds of silence, he talked.
"1." he said. A loud gunshot sounded, Marques screamed and fell to the floor. He clutched his leg as blood poured out.
"All you had to do was do what I said first time I tell you to do it. That's all you had to do bruddah." says Reuben. I trembled with fear. "Take this as a warning yeah? Don't try disrespect me. Especially infront of my woman. Don't disrepsect none of my shit. Remember, your tag might be Flags, but mine is Murder."
END OF RECAPThe doors for the elevator opened as it made a "ding" noise. Reuben turned to face me, took my stuff and walked in the elevator. "Well, what you waiting for Shanae? Get in." he says. I still hear the anger in his voice. I ignore him and watch as the boys surround Marques.
"What? Not now, he needs help!" I exclaimed.
"I'm not going to fucking tell you again. Get. In." I hear the anger and annoyance increase in his voice. I flinch when he swears. Marques looks up at me. He nods for me to go and I give him a weak smile.
"I'm sorry." I mouth to him. I turn around and get into the elevator.
"Took your sweet time." says Reuben angrily. I stay silent, secretly in fear of Reuben. I know to stay clear of boys when they're angry, but at the moment, I have no choice. Reuben presses the button and the elevator door closes. We go all the way to the eleventh floor of the twenty floor block. We get out the elevator and walk down the hallway. We stop at door 11B. Reuben looks around before putting the key in the lock and opening the door. We step into the flat.
He turns the light on and puts his keys back in his pocket. He walks straight, taking us into the living room. I sit on one of the two couches. He walks out of the living room leaving me by myself. I look around and see a picture of Reuben when he was little. He looks about 5 and he is wearing a black jumper. It's one of those pictures that gets taken in primary school. You know, the ones with the blue background and you smiling like the school you go to is any good, yeah one of them pictures. He looks so cute. That's the only picture of him. It's the only picture in the living room. I stand up and walk to the TV, as on top of it is where the picture was. I never knew what school he went to. I pick up the picture and look at the logo on the jumper he was wearing. "What are you doing?" I hear him say. I jump in fright as I didn't know he was there. I put the picture back and turn around.
"Nothing." I say quietly.
"Don't lie. What were you doing?"
"I was looking at the picture." I look down, not wanting to make eye contact.
"Looking isn't touching is it?" I don't reply but I still look down. "IS IT?!" he shouts, causing me to jump.
"No." I say quietly, my eyes tearing up.
"Then don't touch."
"Okay." Tears fall out my eyes. "I'm sorry." I apologise still looking down.
"You better be."
"I am." An awkward silence fills the room as I wipe my tears and sniff a little. I don't raise my eyes from the wooden floor.
