A/N: Wow! Thanks for all the reads! I've written a couple chapters ahead but I don't want to get behind so I'm just updating once a week for now. But just know that I have fun plans for this story. Enjoy (;
Henry's POV
Emma has officially decided to stay in Storybrooke. This is good news. My mom did give her the job as sherif and she's living with Miss Blanchard.
It's been a month since Emma started as sherif. Operation Swan Mills hasn't made much progress. I haven't even seen Emma and my mom near each other.
Emma is walking me to school today which means she'll pick me up at home and at least have to say something to my mom. I'm planning on just taking my time once Emma gets here so they'll have to talk for a little bit.
Just as the thought ran through my head there was a knock on the door. My mom walked through the hallway and glanced at me on her way to the door. "Hurry up and go get ready so you're not late." She said.
I finished my breakfast and put the dishes in the sink. My mom invited Emma inside and while I was walking to the steps I hugged her. "I'll be right back down." I told Emma. She nodded.
I say at the top of the stairs so I could hear them talking.
"So Miss Swan, how are you adjusting to life here as sherif?" Regina asked. "It's a pretty easy job. I don't actually deal with that much. Mostly just Leroy acting crazy at the Rabbit Hole." Emma chuckled. "That man needs to stop drinking." My mom responded.
I could hear my mom washing the dishes and they weren't saying anything now. So I ran up the stairs and quickly put on my clothes and grabbed my backpack. I found my spot back on the stairs just in time to hear Emma ask my mom a question.
"So are you still seeing Graham?" Emma questioned. My mom turned of the water at the sink and her heels clicked against the tile floor. "How would you know that?" Regina questioned Emma now. "Actually it turns out that David hired Graham to help him so I've been working with him a lot." She responded. My mom paused for a second, "Well then you should know the answer to that." "So you aren't?" Emma asked again. "Miss Swan, I don't see why you're asking me questions that you already know the answer too. If you're interested in Graham you can ask him out. We didn't have anything real. You aren't going to hurt my feelings." Regina spit.
I made my way down the stairs just enough so I could watch them. Emma put her hand over my mom's. "I'm not interested in Graham." She said. Just then my mom looked over and saw me on the stairs. She pulled back fast. I walked down and made sure she didn't know I had been watching.
"Ready to go kid?" Emma asked me. "Yup." I walked to my mom and gave her a hug. "Right home after school okay?" She said. I nodded and headed toward the door. Emma lagged behind me a little bit. She made eye contact with my mom before we left the house and made our way to my school.
Regina's POV
Emma took Henry to school this morning. Even in that ugly jacket she looks stunning. The way the light shines through her blonde waves stops my heart.
She asked me all kinds of personal questions about Graham. I told her she could ask him out because we never really had anything anyway. But she didn't want to ask him out.
She grabbed my hand this morning. I froze at the contact. I don't think I've ever felt electricity like that. Not even with Daniel. I looked down at her hand. I wanted to press my lips against the back of it. When I looked up I saw Henry so I pulled back quickly. And then I wished him off to school.
I spent all day distracted. It was impossible for me to get any work done so I decided to take a lunch break at Granny's. It is a sunny day so I chose to walk the couple of blocks to the diner.
I sat down at my usual seat at the bar. Ruby came up with a water and asked me what I wanted to eat. It was only a few minutes before she came back over with a kale salad.
I only took a couple of bites when the door opened and a familiar blonde took a seat next to me. "Good morning Mayor Mills." She smiled. "Miss Swan." I nodded and continued eating.
Ruby came over once again and Emma ordered a grilled cheese and root beer. "You eat like a child." I laughed. "Hey. It's really good." She said. "Whatever you say." I responded. "You eat like a rabbit." Emma giggled. "I only eat like this here. I'm a great cook." I said. "I'll just have to take your word for it I guess." Emma eyed me. "I'm making lasagna tonight with apple turnovers for dessert." I eyed back. She watched me for a minute. "Is that an invitation?" She said. I raised an eyebrow.
I didn't say anything. I just thought for a minute. I finished my lunch and stood up to leave. "Be there at 6pm sharp." I said before I walked out and back to my office.
I've spent all this time avoiding her because I want to hate her. Why did I just invite her to dinner?
