~A/N: Hey guys! This is far from my first OC but this is the first backstory (which is going to be multipart) I am uploading here on Wattpad. If it gets positive feedback, I'll start putting up more of my OCs stories and you'll get to know them all! Enjoy.~

-----

Some people live their lives perfectly ignorantly. Me? I never had that chance. The reason why; my father, who decided that he had to have children so badly he could sacrifice one of them in a heart beat. Poor Nadia..........

Anyways, I'm Markus Temp. This isn't my story. This is my family's story. I never really knew my mom but I did briefly know Dad. He was an okay guy.. I guess. So, uh I'll tell you about the deal right now and then we'll start at our fourth birthday. Oh, right. Nadia and I are... were... twins.

The deal my father made with this demon called Malice, ya know the most trustworthy name ever, was that he would become fertile and able to have children so long as he gave up his first daughter on her sixteenth birthday. Malice was going to wed her and it was supposed to be "The deal of a lifetime", as Malice put it. So Nadia was doomed to know about the things everyone else in the world would never know before she was ever born. Uh, well.. I'll start the rest from the tragedy, that I don't remember, on our fourth.

"Happy Birthday~" Everyone began to sing to the little boy and girl sitting on their knees to see the cake. The boy seemed to be gleaming with joy and the girl was pretty baffled. About halfway through the second 'Happy Birthday', something happened that forever changed the family. The mother, full of pride for her children, fell unconscious and blood dripped from her eyes and ears.. the only memory the children will ever have of their mother. Everyone rushed to the hospital, the children with their father and mother.

Unfortunately, what we did not know was that she was doomed. Malice had gone back on his word. Now, stay with me. This is how my father told it to me on his own deathbed.

"We got there as quickly as we could, and the doctors did everything they could. But, Markus, she was already almost dead. The doctors never found the cause of death and the following year Malice came to me and told me the truth. If I had known.... I'm so sorry, there's nothing you can do for Nadia.. Just be there in the end. Take care of her. The way that your mother and I never could. All I can do is pray that she doesn't meet the same fate as Genia did.."

That was all I ever really heard about mom's death. And I only remember what she looked like when she collapsed... I always pray Nadia didn't remember but.. one night when we were about twelve....

"Do you remember mom?" I looked at her and my heart dropped. That was the question I wasn't prepared for. "Uh.. why?" She looked at me and then the floor, it was hard for her to talk about. "Well, I only remember moments from the night she died... I just wondered if you-"

"I only remember that too." I wanted her to know she wasn't alone. I never told her about Malice.. I didn't want her to hate Dad and I didn't want to scare her. But I knew what was coming. Either she'd be taken from me on our sixteenth or she'd die at any time in the following years. And there was nothing I could do...

Of course one of those things did happen, you'll have to wait and see. But the really surprising stuff came later.. after what happened to Nadia. Malice never left me alone..

I like to call it the Temp curse. It's the reason I am who I am now and will never pass on this wretched name to anyone else. I'll never marry and have children.  This burden is now solely mine.. forever.
